Lease is almost up....

Well I have less than 60 days on the lease on my '06 4Runner. It's a SR5 V6 2WD with leather and a sunroof. It has been awesome with 0 problems in the 3 years I have had it.

Went to the Toyota dealer this weekend and realized Toyota hasn't changed a darn thing on the 4Runner aesthetically sine I got mine, that just doesn't motivate me to get another one. Since I have already been there done that I'm thinking I may not sign up for another one....

My dad got an '08 Highlander Sport about 2 months ago and he let my family use it for a week long family trip. After a week with it and almost 2200 miles, we came away not wanting a Highlander, don't get me wrong it is very nice it's just not me.

Now what the heck do I do!

Just buy it out if you like it. 4Runners are an absolute steal right now with gas prices the way they are. I just bought a brand new one for peanuts this past Sunday at .9% financing from Toyota.

If you want 4WD or some other option, now's the time to trade your truck in for a new one, or just keep it if you want it.

My lease is up in Feb 09. I just plan on buying it out as long as the values are close.

I would have no problems buying another 4th gen. There is no other vehicle in it's class that I find comparable or desirable .

I don't want to pay the price for a new one and as far as if my values are close (which they seem to be holding very well around here) I should be fine. Bottom line the only thing I would like different on mine is the VSC on/off switch , but more importantly I would like side air bags.

Also I will have 60k when my lease is up . My lease was for 3 yrs and 85k miles , so I will be under quite a bit. If I'm going to buy a used vehicle I might as well keep the 4R since I know the maint. schedule and history.

Who knows , time will tell . Just my thoughts at the moments. All could change in time.

Most vehicles only get one facelift during it's product/generation cycle. For the 4Runner that was in 2006. They might do a little something extra like change the grille, the orientation or arrangment of the taillights (from amber to red or clear, use be signals then brake lights, to brake lights then signals, etc.), but don't expect any more drastic changes to the body.

For 2008, they did add VSC off, so you can now do donuts in the 4Runner.

I don't think I'll keep it, I like but I also like getting a new vehicle every 3 years (and having a warranty).

Plus I'm thinking more fuel efficient would not be a bad path to travel.

I'm going to try and get it up to Carmax this week or next and see if it is worth more than what Toyota wants for it. If it is worth more I'll let Carmax have it. If it's not worth more I'll hold it until the last day of the lease.

Carmax is supposed to be a real good company to work for. We have a huge one about 10 miles away. Never been there . but hey ....who cares
