Lease pricing & residuals in.....

Just got word from my dealer about lease prices on the 2010's. I had the gm price me a 2010 Limited 4x4 with Nav. It stickered for $42k and he would sell it for $40k. Lease prices with no money down except first months payments, TTL, & etc for 3 years, 15K per year was outrageous at $670/month!!!!!

This has to be the most rediculous lease price around.......I got my 2006 & 2003 4runner V8 4x4 SE's for both under $400/month, same mileage and 3 year leases. Hell, I see luxury SUV's for a lot less......yikes:mad:

Any idea if these will change? I will be talking with the guy more this week, I did not have time to go over the details.

At these crazy lease prices, I may not be getting a 4runner.

It's all about available money.

With the financial markets still messed up, there is very little or no money available for leasing, autos or anything else, for that matter.

Many of the companies that invested in leases have left the market.

With the shaky markets, and Toyota having a huge loss last FY, they are not willing to do factory leases unless in a limited way with much higher standards.

Until the financial markets improve and used vehicle values stabilize increase, leasing will be heavily restricted and much more expensive.

Good! I would NEVER lease a vehicle.

I would wait till the end of the 2010 model year..........when i got my 07, in the beginning of the year they wanted 600+ per month, in the end i waited almost a year and got it for 500/month.

I cant wait any longer, I extended my 2006 lease from 3 to 4 years already. What gets me is that new model years dont always affect pricing. For example, I bought one of the first 2003's(new design) back in October of 2002with the same lease info above for less than $400/month, how can a vehicle with similar pricing change this much in lease prices......I know I have a SE while the above quote was for a limited, but a $300 a month difference.....crazy!

I am actually suprised they even quoted a lease - I was under the impression most (except for Chrysler) manufacturers have gotten out of the leasing business all together.

My lease on my 05 sr5 4runner with sunroof ends in Dec. It was a 5 year lease no money down no first payment 12k a year for 354.00 a month. I was over the miles by about 12,000.00 on the lease and I had a few scratches and dents etc on the 4runner. I wanted to get a new 2010 4runner but from what the dealer told me the lease rates would be high as heck until the model is out for a year or so and they wont be out until late november. Toyota is one of the few that still lease but the leases aren't as attractive as they used to be because of the bank situation in the past year or two. You must have perfect credit or you will get turned down. Right now Toyota is only leasing through Southeast Toyota Finance here in NC.

So in turn I hate to say this but....I sold my 4runner to them, they paid off my lease yesterday and I leased a 2010 rav4 sport with sunroof, 4 cylinder for 39 months, no money down and 354.00 a month. It stickered at 25k. I was looking at the basic 4cylinder highlander but they wanted about 380 a month for that and I was trying to stay around the 350 range.
Hopefully when this lease ends I can then get back into a 2012 or 2013 4runner.

Wow, is being over the mileage limit by 12k a big penalty? I would think if you plan on driving that much, it may have been better to just buy the car and within another 1-2 years, own the thing to get some value out of it.

Regardless, it does seem like $5-600 is a lot for a lease, especially for a Toyo.

I loved my 4runner and it was the best car I have ever had. Never had any issues with it. I would lease one again but the leases aren't that attractive on the 2010.

12k at .18 cent a mile = $2160.00 to the lease company and a turn in fee of 395.00 at the end of the lease. I could of refied the 4runner at no money down at around 15500.00 for 5 year at around 319.00 a month. 1 or two years of payments would of been like 600 or 700 a month. The car would have 140k on it by the time i paid it off and that doesnt include any repairs i need to do to it. I never did anything to my 4runner except change the oil every 6k, bought new tires and thats it. I drove it hard and didn't want to keep it. I was going to need to put some money into it soon. Shocks, battery, brakes, tires again, spark plugs, fluid flushes, hoeses etc. All of those repairs or maintenance items add up. I Still had orginal 5 year old battery in it and original rear brakes(front were replaced under warranty at 35k) It makes more sense for me to lease again. I don't like owning a depreciating asset that is why i lease. Everything is alway under warranty and there are never any surprise repairs with a lease. That's just my opinion. I just accept that I will always have a car payment of about 350.00 a month in exchange for piece of mind and a new car. I also don't take the risk of my suv going down in value if gas hits 5 bucks a gallon again. That will happen again soon! I like lowest possible payment. You best bet is to lease with honda or toyota though or a car with a high residual, Ford and Chevy can't do that.

Do you ever wonder why most lease companies went under? Probablly because the leases are more attractive to the leaseas then they are for the leasing company. Most of the companies were losing money on the leases. I've leased 5 cars so far and I've always ended up ahead or almost even.

That's just my personal opionion.
