Look at the TRD leather. I got that in my '05 Sport and love it. They put trim on the doors too. With seat heaters it cost about $1300 installed. I know others here on the forum have used them too with great results.

I love the looks of the TRD leather. How long did it take them for the install? If they could do it in one day, I'd have to fork over the cash for the leather seats. That's about the only thing stopping me. Please tell me they can't do it in just one day. My bank account needs some peace. ;-)

possible but not likely! took me and my buddy 36 hour of sweat and sore hands to install his.lol also we were taking our time to make sure they were done right and the leather was tight to the seat.I will never attempt to do that project again!:nono: to much work involve.
 
I had mine done about 1 month ago by the Classic Soft Trim dealer in Cincinnati and it honestly took 2.5 hours. I was in @9:30 and out before 12:00 (with seat heaters that are nice and HOT-I suspect they took an extra 20 minutes to install). They ordered the kit and 4 days later had it in and the following day I was there for my appointment. Be sure to get the DEALER PRICE---not the retail price. If you have to have your dealership call for you, do so. They gave me the "wholesale/dealer" price without much haggle, or dealership call. The price difference is about $400-$500.

They add a lot of class to the interior and are easy to maintain/clean. I personally didn't like the fabric on the standard Sport seats (though I loved the seats/fabric in my '93 4Runner w/sport seats)--these were always getting full of lint. The leather seats are also perferated in some parts to help breathe better.

The pics at the website are identical to the finished product. They match the dash/trim very nicely.

Jeez, now I'm going to have to get the leather too..... I just ordered the Japanese Black tail lights yesterday, so I'll be getting those in about 6 weeks. As soon as my dunlops wear out, I'll be getting bigger tires, likely with a lift. Now the question is if I can justify the leather. Man, this site is a money pit!
 
:D I justified it as "it still didn't cost as much as a Limited"....

Problem is that my $1300 purchased turned into a little more $$ when I had to "balance" out the purchase for myself to my wife by purchasing her a little bling-ring as an equalizer. Otherwise I know I'd be hearing it for a while ..."well, YOU got your fancy leather seats in your 4Runner while all I get is squat". :awais:

I tried to convince her that now I get to spend more quality time with her because I'm not out in the garage with my lint roller any longer, but she didn't fall for it. Now I'm thinking I understand why she liked the cloth seats.... it WAS because I was in the garage soooo much. :sobbing:

j/k I don't have issues with her (well not too many).

I agree, this site/forum is costing me a lot of $$!! Too many good ideas!
 
Professionals can usually do it within a day. It took me 3 days to install them on my car and I did a half-assed job at it.
 
I got the leather kit off of ebay. It is very high quality stuff. It is the OEM stuff. Ali leather. I tried to do the install and after spending 4 hours on the easiest seat (rear small) I said to hell with this. I paid 350 to have it installed. The best money I have every spent. It is a royal bitch to try and install this stuff. When I did get the leather seat cover put on it looked like crap. There were wrinkles in the leather and it wasn't tight. Total cost was about 800 dollars for everything. Including seat heaters.


I talked to the installer he said he had just done another 4runner for the dealership. Charged $1400. Dealership charged 1600 to the customer. He couldn't believe I got the same kit he uses. For about 50 bucks more than he pays. I kind of got to know him and he was telling me that this leather is some of the best he has seen. He went on to say that katzkin was way over rated and way over priced. Eventhough, he was a main installer of katzkin. It was funny cause that is all he did was rag on katzkin.
 
I got the eBay kit and it's not OEM. The leather is very good quality, it wears extremely well, but the feel of it is different, it's more rough but feels more durable. But, it's exactly the same as Katzkin and Leatherseats.com (I checked). The closest to OEM is the manufacturer for Southeast Toyota distributors and second would be Classic Soft Trim.
 
That is bull, it is OEM. Before being asked to vacate the premises of the dealer I sat in a Limited with tan leather. It is the exact same texture and feel.

The OEM Limited leather has a softer texture and the grain is closer together. Additionally the vinyl on OEM leather feels closer to the leather than does the aftermarket kit.
 
Are you sure you got the right kit? Yours look a lot more grey that tan. Mine look like the bottom picture only newer.

When did you get your kit? Maybe they've changed it since I got mine around April 2004.
 
I got mine about 3 weeks ago. I am telling you it is a dead on match to the factory. I even got the doors done. In this new pic your leather looks beatiful but a little lighter tan than mine. Maybe it is another lighting issue? I parked my 4runner right next to the limited opened both doors and closely examined them. I remember this cause I was tickled pink about it.
 
Hm..strange. I guess they've changed it along the way. This is the same design that Katzkin and Leatherseats.com has been using too. Guess I'm gonna have to email them for pictures of the kit they have now. Thanks!
