Are the cushions for the cloth seats the same as the leather seats? I'm planning to buy replacement leather seat covers, and want to make sure the fit will be nice and snug.

Yes - I replaced my factory cloth seats with Classic Soft Trim leather replacements and they fit perfectly.

Great. How hard is it to remove the factory cloth? Have any tips?

I didn't actually install mine. Classic Soft Trim won't sell you the seats without an install, at least that's how the branch here was. Check out this thread, where one member outlines his install of leather:
