Leaving the Smart Key behind

Has anybody ever started their Limited t4r, then gotten out while leaving it running, then left the keys on the counter, and then gotten back in and driven away? I am always scared I am going to do this by accident, and then get to where I am going, turn the car off, and then realize that I left the dang key on the counter at home, and not be able to restart it. Toyota should put a beep device in the vehicle dash that warns you if it can't detect that the key fob is near when you put it into drive, or does it have something like this? Now that is a beep that I could deal with!

It won't turn off by itself, it'll let you drive away.
