led backlight half out on climate control display since ipod aux install

Hi everyone,

A few nights ago I installed a USA-Spec Toyota to Ipod adapter on my 2003 Limited 4Runner (with the cheapest factory radio, the non JBL, no nav). Everything went great, except now that I have put everything back together the right half of the display on my climate control panel -- the area where it shows the clock -- is no longer backlit. I also noticed that the up and down buttons for the drivers side temperature control are no longer backlit, though the rest of the star-shaped button panels are still backlit properly. Any thoughts? So far all I have done is disconnected and reconnected the climate control piece and that changed nothing. I doubt that I damaged it while working on the install, my best guess right now is that perhaps one of the wires pulled out of the clip that attaches the unit to the electrical system, making it so some of the unit is not provided power.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance if you can help. Also, I am happy to answer any questions people might have about the USA Spec ipod adapter, it works beautifully and I even found a nice spot to stash the box under the console trim near the buttons for the heated seats.

There is a wire lead lamp wrapped around a plastic twist connector on each half of the display. The lamp cound be bad, or the connections dirty since the wire just contacts the circuit board trace.

Hey Glenn, thanks for the reply. Since I posted I played around with the search some more and found a discussion of this exact problem (doh! should have searched more before), looks like I should clean the connectors and if that doesn't fix it buy some new bulbs from the dealer and swap them in. Thanks again!
