just got some LEDS on amazon for $30, they are amazing....i then got the extra decoder so i can stop the flicker from the DRLs. its common knowledge this decoder just turns the DRLS into constant high beams. im in cali and ive heard people syaing its illegal. has anyone been pulled over for DRLs that are too bright? mine are yellow so not as bright as 4.k or 4k color temps and ive heard people mentioning people flashing you cus your DRLS are too bright? wtf? in the daytime?
In California you can get pulled over for most any mod.
Yes, it is a violation of the
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108. The applicable sections are:
S6.5.2
S7.10.13
Tables Ia and III
There are other sections that reference the DRL, but the ones above are the ones directly on point.
Nobody can tell if you'll be pulled over unless they drive the same car, same color, same speed on the same day and time and encountering the same cops. Take that (and your risk tolerance) into consideration when some faceless person on the internet says "just do it"
In addition,
California Code requires the dimming of high beams when following a vehicle (I think 300ft) or when approached by a vehicle (500ft).
So it is not only a violation of the FMVSS governing DRLs, but also the California code governing the use of high beams.
Even if the LEO isn't concerned about the DRL, then they WILL notice the fact that (if you are behind them), that you are blinding them and may turn from the friendly face in my avatar to the one below
