led exterior lights

as anyone tried mounting led lights across the sidesteps im curious to see how it will look

do you mean the running boards? I haven't seen it done, but not sure it would look that good. no way to hide the LEDs when not on.

Should be interesting, not practical for off-roading, but cool for on-roading.

I tried placing small LEDs under the running boards to light up the ground, but I don't stay out of the dirt enough- they were always so dirty, you couldn't even see them . Your ideal will work better- a little more bling, but I bet it will look nice. Post those pics when you're done.

I put these accent lights from superbrightleds.com into the factory running board light location. I got them in white. I will post pics one of these days of the final install. They look sick as hell and light up the curve of the 4R making it stand out.

yeah, definitely post a pic or two! That sounds like an awesome mod LV4R. Do they only come on when the interior lights are on or when the headlights are on (all the time) too?

They come on when the doors are unlocked / open. I wired them to the light ring that is around the key. Basically they act the same as the interior lights. Once the weather clears up here I will give the beast a good bath and post pics of everything I have done. I used THIS link as a guide to adding the lights.

Thanks! I definitely like the look of it. Simple mod to do and it makes all the difference. As an aside, instead of running the wire through the interior of the car I ran it through the cross beam under the runner. I used a fish line to fish it from one side to the other. It was probably a little easier than running it through the interior.
