Curious if any of you have used these in your Second Gens.

I purchased a set of LED headlamps for my 2013 Tacoma from Chris on Tacomaworld. They look exactly like these in physical appearance. I do not think they are brighter than the factory bulbs. I do like the fact that the current draw is so much less.

I have a sneaking feeling that sticking LED bulbs in halogen housings will make it look very ricey - similar to running HIDs in non-projector housings. I haven't read that thread but have talked to a couple of people that have imported some led bulbs. They said they are ok but the technology isn't quite there yet. They do have less draw but the throw is lacking. I would just stick with some premium bulbs (Silverstar) or go with some HID's.

As I only have installed them on my Tacoma and not my 4R I can only give my thoughts on the Tacoma. They do go into the factory lamp housing. I can take some pics of different angles and such if you would like.
I will tell you that they do not fit and stay tight in the housing like the factory bulbs. If you know the Tacoma lamp stays secure by a wire clip that swings over the base of the bulb and then clips into the housing to keep the bulb tight. On the LED lamps you use the same wire but the LED lamp base is much larger. Therefore the wire does not fit as well. I am selling my Tacoma and will be swapping them back to the factory bulbs, otherwise I would come up with some type of fix.

I am not talking about cutoff or throw or light output. I am talking about the aesthetics. Ever seen the neighborhood civic run around with HIDs in non-projector housings? Looks cheesy as all hell.

I am not saying sticking LEDs in non-LED housing will look cheesy, but that is my concern. Some of the early photos I am seeing on the tacomaworld thread lead me to believe they do look chintzy.

i went off road yesterday with some fj's and one had lifetime LED's and they looked good. they are almost a pure white color and looked nice. as far as output goes i can have no opinion but as far as looks go i think it looks good

fj all the way on the right has LEDs.

they look more white in persom

I bought a pair of these from Chris on TW (Jumper LED's). I was a little surprised to find out where they're manufactured (China) but I installed them tonight and they look great. I'll be adding pics tomorrow when I can.

I have purchased about $500.00 worth of bulbs and lights from Chris for my vehicles and customers. I've never had any issues with his items. Great guy and service.

I just realized in this pic the headlights are not on! Yep, i'm a moron at times. :redface:

So far the new LED headlamps offered on vehicles seem to be similar to projector lamps with a lens to diffuse/focus/do something for the light. I mentioned this in a thread I made a while back.
I would suspect the bulbs do a bit better than halogens due to their brighter & whiter nature and as you can see the LEDs are set at an angle facing the reflectors to try and use the reflectors to diffuse the light so its more dispersed, over all not a bad idea.

I do realize you can put the bulbs in any stock headlight housing so that is not what I'm referring to, but I just read on the led headlight website that these led bulbs are not recommended for halogen projectors. Obviously they will still have the led look but driving wise they probably wont perform very well.

Received a set of Lifetime LED High and Low beams recently. Threw em in and moved the Jumper LED's to the fogs, though time will tell if I'll keep em there or replace em with the PIAA halogens for the color difference.

Pics were taken with an iPhone4 and the lights were so bright that it gave the camera an aneurysm, so bear in mind that the light in the first picture for each is much brighter than it appears. The light pattern is much different to halogens too, with the light being evenly distributed versus having hot spots - creating a much "smoother" looking beam in the process.

Cost for the high and low beams together with the discount code at wiredinstallation.com was $291.98 including shipping. They arrived within 3 days of being shipped and when one of the drivers' plugs was odd Henry (kd8bao on TW) had a new one shipped within the hour of being notified (shipped on a Friday, arrived on the Monday).

All in all, worth every penny, though we'll see how they hold up. imp:

Do you have the 03-05 headlight housings or the 06-09 headlight housings with projectors?
