Led install question.

I have a quick question, I got a 42 inch led that came with the wires and ballast, but I have also 4 small ones with no wire and no ballast. Is it necessary to use a ballast for the small ones ?

Also, in the US a ballast is something commonly used with fluorescent lights, not LEDs. Is there another name for the electrical device you are referring to (like relay, fuse, diode, etc)?

I did some research while waiting fro a reply and yes a fuse should be all I need

No worries. Yes you are right, you should always try to use a fuse to protect the delicate internals of the LED and the wire itself when connecting directly to the battery or even indirectly via a relay.

PS - Depending how your wire up your light, you may also want to use a relay so you don't have a switch directly connected to your high Amp battery feed wires inside the cab.

Install your fuses as close to the source where you are getting the power from. It's best to use weatherproof fuses if you are connecting under your hood so that the salt/water doesn't corrode the connections.

From the looks of it, you will also need to extend your wires a bit. Make sure you use the same or thicker Gauge wire to extend them to your connection point.
