LED kits for 5th generation 4runner(Help needed)

Basically, you're going to have to source your own kit, but the instructions on how to do so have been posted a few times in this thread by yours truly. Just scroll a few posts up and you'll see where I explained what's needed.

The info you provided was great, HOWEVER, click on the link yourself and you will see they are sold out. Thus the issues posted up subsequently. Just sayin'....no beef, thought you would want to know.

You are right. However, the original purpose of that post was to show exactly which types of bulbs one would need. V-LEDs is just one vendor. For instance:

Here are some links to bulbs from Super Bright LEDs (all in stock):

You will need three of these or three of these depending on your preference.

You will also need twelve of these (for a Limited).

FWIW, I ended up taking the rest of my business to Amazon and V-LEDs. Both were great and very fast in delivery. I got the remaining Putco 194s from Amazon for ~$19 a pair and the rear tail lights from V-LEDs, but based on experience from V-LEDs I may well take some future business to them as well, was very impressed with speed of delivery and the product.

I was reading this the other day and was not able to find the right V-LED on amazon.. Anyone else have any luck?
 
At SBL you can also put in your vehicle and it will give you a list of LEDs for each location so you can choose what you like for different uses.
 
I tried checking to see if this has been answered but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. My question is this:
I am looking for a good led for my reverse lights. I have done led's back there on previous vehicles but have always misjudged and purchased bulbs that put out now where near enough light. What have you guys been successful with? I know Cree's are bright and will probably project a good bit, but how is the spread on them? I want the most light out there I can get as I spend a lot of time in remote locations. Any input on the matter would be hugely appreciated or maybe a link to a product? Price is no object, within reason. Thanks!

I had bought LED projector bulbs for the rear as someone had previous spoke about and linked, and I was thoroughly disappointed with them. The didn't hold a connection well, and their output was worse then stock. So I put back in my old bulbs. I plan to do the ducmonsta mod with flush mount rigids in the rear bumper eventually, but I got some other priorities right now. Duc, i'll be PMing you in the future about em.

I agreed with you on the flush mounts, I had two duallies out back on my 3rd gen. I too will be going through him for some flush mounted srm's for the back of my rig. Duc's an awesome guy. He and his shop helped me with a few things on the 3rd gen since I used to live 5 minutes from there

Jaker thanks for keeping this alive and sharing the info. I have a question for the bulbs above the where you give the option 3 of these or 3 of these, are these bulbs for the dome light and the two license plate lights? I take it the first option is a bit easier to install.

For the dome light and the two rear hatch lights. Both versions are really simple to install. However, if you end up going with the board mounted LEDs, it'll require using double sided tape or some other adhesive inside the panels.

Thanks Jaker I also have seen some of these bulbs on Ebay some for around 3 bucks each. Have you heard any issues from buying there?

Honestly, it all depends on the vendor. There are vendors who sell crap products and vendors who sell awesome products. Both types can be found on Ebay unfortunately.
 
Just wondering which LED lamps are best to use for taillights? I've already replaced all the interior lights but not the taillights yet. Should I use red LEDs for the brake, orange for the tail, white for backup or can they all be white?

From Super Bright LEDs I would recommend the cool white over the natural white. Cool white will be a 6000K rating and the natural white will be a 3100K rating.

However, if you're ordering from V-LEDs, I would recommend the 5000K rating because the 6000K was just a tad bit too blue for my taste.

Hey Jaker, Thank you for posting these links over and over again. I did get my lights (forgot to order the dome for some reason) and they were a snap to install.
 
New member on this forum, but just wanted to add that I purchased the led's that Jaker linked to (DE3175 & 194) and installed them in the front doors and back hatch. I already had some from my 3rd gen and put those in the dome and map light area. The led's from superbrightleds.com seem like really good quality and bright. Since I was only missing the passenger doors (for the interior), I purchased a " 4Runner package" from Amazon (cheaper). Just got them today and installed. Since my wife's car took the same bulbs, I put the rest in her car. I can tell a slight difference in the Amazon.com led's from the superbrightleds.com leds. The Amazon.com led's are slightly less bright (the 194 led's), but the DE3175 (festoon leds) are really bright, as bright or brighter than the ones from superbrightleds.com.

thanks JAKER for the advices on superbrightleds.

Chose 3X 6000K for rear hatch and dome.
Chose 10X 5200K for interior/exterior lights
Chose 2X warm white 3200K for the vanity mirrors (so you don't look like you are dead).

Hope the lights disassembly is easy, can't wait to get the lights!
