LED license plate bulbs on Lexus vehicles?

I've noticed recently that the rear license plates on newer Lexus vehicles are very brightly lit (blue vs. yellow light), which leads me to believe they have LED bulbs there. Can anyone confirm this? I'd love to pick up a set at the Lexus dealer and see how they look on my 4Runner's tailgate.

Yup, the GS has them for sure. I think the IS does as well. I don't know about the fitment. Member Pennywise, made his own for the running boards, courtesy lights and license plate lights.

Could you check and see if your bulbs look like they would plug in the same way as the bulbs on the 4Runner? If they fit, I'll just pick up a set at the Lexus dealer, rather than custom making something myself. I love the look.

I guess because I'd rather go factory if it's available. I try to stay away from generic no-name parts when possible, not that the ones you got are bad quality. I just hadn't ever heard of that company. It's just as easy for me to swing by a Lexus dealer and know what they're gonna look like.

I haven't seen the Lexus ones yet, but I'm sure they aren't cheap.

When I get around to it, I'm just going to make my own.

Does anyone have a pic of the Lexus at night with these LED plates?
 
I agree - it's doubtful that the Lexus bulbs are cheap, at least when comparing to aftermarket wedge bulbs. But they are, after all, license plate bulbs. I can't imagine they're so expensive it would make a huge difference. If someone can confirm that they'll fit in place of our 4Runner bulbs, I'll go buy a set, or at least price them at Lexus.
 
We just picked up an IS250 last week (AMAZING btw...). It does have the 'blue' colored bulbs in that location... as well as a few other locations. I'll take a picture and try to get a part #.

On a side note, I replaced stock bulb on my 4R license plate w/ a 'xenon' colored (blue) light. Haven't compared the 2 cars yet, but I think they are similar. I'll take a look. I 'think' i used the typical wedge bulb for mine. It wasn't LED.

yes please take a pic of the LED plates on the Lexus. I haven't seen one yet, so are they bluish?

I thought that would be illegal and one of the reasons I haven't done the plates yet. Most of the white LEDs have a bluish tint to them (which I like) but was afraid I would get pulled over for it.
 
The LEDs on the Lexus vehicles seem to be bright and very white, with only a hint of blue. That's why I like them so much... lots of the aftermarket bulbs I see are just tinted blue to mimic the look, but overdo it and don't look as clear and bright.

i changed mine about 7 months ago with an mtec bulb super white, i liked it. i just dont remember the bulb type. ill look it up tomorrow.

If I didn't notice the T emblem, I would've said that's what the Lexus tail license plate lights look like. I like it, looks great.
 
ill get a pic up tommrow for yah with my runner with it...its a little more blue then what in the pics here and i think its leagal in most states if its not like a werid color...
 
Took pics of the 4R and lexus side by side... license plate bulbs look identical. I bought a set of 10 super white wedge bulbs on ebay for $10. I put them in all 4 doors and the map lights. Can someone verify they are the 192/168 bulbs? The dome lights were different though.
