LED Lighting Kits

so I got home from a search around 030 this morning and decided I was still too awake to go to bed so I installed the set on the GX. Now even though the GX has a different body on it I decided to take a gamble on just going with a 4th gen 4runner set for it as I knew it would be close. Well it worked and tuned out pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I'll be installing a set on the 3rd gen here soon. I'm impressed with how bright these are! And the quality/craftsmanship is very well done. Good job man I am very pleased!

Nicely done on the install! Hi m glad to hear the 4th gen kit fit perfectly for the GX. Were the extra loom and wire helpful with installing both switches?

Also I added what photos that I have posted throughout the thread of output shots to the first post.

Yes the extra loom was nice it took a little bit to figure out how to wire in both switches... But it's all good

Really with the hood kit not matter which wire you connected the round rocker to, the kit would still perform as you'd expect it would. No matter the pin switch acts as the ground no matter what and adding the round rocker in-between the power or ground would have the same affect of having the ability to turn the lights on or off. Either way nicely done with the install on the GX. I'll be standing by for your 3rd gen install.
 
It probably had more to do with the fact that I was doing this about 1am, and had been up all day and just got back from a grueling search... I was short on thinking power lol

So quick update. Light order is arriving today so please EXPECT a PM shortly. I don't want to build a kit and not have a response from members. Also I stated a few posts up that only kits with dual switches get the extra loom. I decided every kit will come with an extra foot of wire and braided loom.

That would be a 3rd gen hood kit. The LED strips are cut to fit perfectly in that generation 4runner. The color choice he has is white. Each kit has a black braided loom around all wires and also have shrink tubing on all soldered ends to protect from water damage. The strips have an added adhesive tape to be certain that the strips do not fall off the hood.

ok and 2 switches mean you can control like left and right part of the lighting? i would be cool with just 1 switch for all of them...

No. 2 switches is for setting up the kit so it doesn't turn on with just the pin switch if you want to have the lights to not come on every time you open the hood.

Panman's kit shipped out. Haven't heard from lava rocks. So expect PMS 7, 9, and 10

Also get the word out on these kits. So far the kits have came out amazing and would love to keep them coming!

Question though, what gauge wire do you use?

Also, whats the difference between the $65/$67 kits and the $75 kit? Is it just longer LED strips? Will the longer ones still fit under 4runner hoods?

I use 18ga wire. Also the $65 kit has only one switch and the $67 has two switches. The $75 kit is a completely different kit from the hood kits
