LED replacement bulbs

I went with JDM Astar as well. Those suckers are bright! The only bulbs I didnt swap were the vanity lights, which the Mrs appreciated.

phillips is the way to go.

I started out with the cheap $20 LEDs. Yes they are super bright, but the fit was not good. I recently went with Phillips, yes, they aren't as bright as the cheap Ebay ones, but they are bright enough. The difference is the build quality. They fit like OEM and fit secure. The ebay ones eventually came lose and started to flicker. You get what you pay for.

Witch bulb did you use in the side mirrors and how did you still them?

Check out post 23 above, then link is there for the install.

I'm guessing the mirror lights are the 168 (194)s. What i don't understand is the different options. Usually when I buy things, more $$ means better features, but these prices and lumen counts are all over the place. How do you choose the 'best' one?

For the outside mirror and rear cargo, I'd opt for a brighter option, but are multiple smaller chips better than fewer larger ones?

I checked out the video. Thats a lot of steps for changing a bulb. I think I'll just leave what I have for now.

The cargo area lights are on my list to upgrade :)

Bought these for $10. All work great. Didn't replace the license plate or mirror lights though. Didnt feel like it at the time and I still haven't gotten to swapping them out.

You can't beat that price and from our pic they look as bright as others. I've read about cheap options not lasting long and starting to flicker. How have yours lasted over time?

Same - went with the cheap Ebay kit about 6 months ago, and they just started with the terrible flickering/dying.

Replaced them with Philips, big difference in build quality and fit. Look great and won't ever have to worry again...especially embarrassing when it's your license plate lights and you don't know how long they've been flickering!

No flickering or problems here. Every now and then I have to turn off the map lights and just use the dome light cause it's so bright if you want to consider that a problem lol. Lights have been great so far.

And yeah, I've bought some cheapo ones in the past for my Dad's Tacoma and those flickered every time you start the truck and such. Annoying. Hit or miss with certain brands I guess.

For those who have the JDM Astar led bulbs, can you provide a link to where you purchased it? I see a set on Amazon for $9.99, but want to make sure it's the correct one. I just want to replace map lights, dome light, tailgate lights and maybe the reverse light.

That's WAY too much $ for LED's.

I bought Fyre Flys LED Kit for $59.99 - which I thought was still too high, but better than $110+ :)
White LED interior lights package kit 2016 & Up 4Runner 15 pcs 3014 series SMD

You can get a whole Interior LED kit from PrecisionLED. I had their kit in my 2001 4Runner. They lasted years and were always bright. The dome lasted all 5 years I had it. The map light and hatch, which were used often, went out in 3 years. You can buy indivual or the kit. The kit for old 4Runner was like $45. And for new 2016 it's around $55.
