This is why I just by the cheapest possible from Amazon/Ebay and not go for the overpriced ones on superbrightleds.com. They are all made in the same manner, one just costs 5x as much!
And for the record, I've never had one of my "cheapo's" break or fail on me. But then again I know what kind of SMD LEDs I'm looking for before I go in.
P.S. if you want bright lights, go for 5630's. The best as far as brightness (50 lumens per LED) and cost. The CREE LEDs are nice but pricey, not sure which kind broke on you though. Also the most common LEDs, 3528, are rather dim unless there's massive amounts of them. They are getting outdated fast.
