Just setup and tested my Infinity Primus 163s and here is my review:
Remember I bought 2 speakers for about 50% off last week. These are meant for my office but I thought I would test them in my living room where I usually use my Bose 301s as L/R Fronts in my 3.2 System. For this test I used only stereo mode and turned off the subs. Stereo is Harmon Kardon 3700 at 125W RMS (thats the claim anyways).
Compared to the Bose they sound pretty good but not quite as great. You really can't beat the 301s. The 301s are normally $320 / pair and have been around for years and years. Although if they had been on sale for $59 each I would definitely grab a pair for my instead. Don't get me wrong though the Infinity's are pretty damn good and I will be keeping them for the office. They also haven't been broken in very much at all yet - only about 3 hours of play time so far.
For my test I watched the William Wallace "freedom" speech scene of Braveheart once with each pair of speakers.

I just got this a couple months ago as a gift: Samsung HW-F450
Powered 2.1-channel home theater sound bar with wireless subwoofer and Bluetooth
It sounds excellent. Not to mention that it will also sync with your phone to play music. Highly recommended
I just picked this up for the upstairs, haven't gotten it hooked up yet, need to find a new TV wallmount with provisions for the soundbar, any suggestions? The display is a 42" Samsung.
I FINALLY got my big stereo downstairs hooked back up and watched "The Dark Night Rises", it was amazing! I need a new TV for the basement though, thinking something in the 70" flavor...

I dont sorry, but let us know what you come up with. I think mine came with a small wall mount bracket, but my tv is on a narrow table for now so I didnt even take it out of the box. Next place will probably be a wall mount though, so I'll be looking around for a better bracket here in the next couple months

I just bought these, hopefully they work with the TV's wall mount, if not at least they were cheap.

No this is not a common problem with most subs. It is however a common problem with the Sunfire Sub that I have. Basically, over time with these, the signal from the receiver has to get hotter and hotter (stronger and stronger) as the sensing circuit fails. Eventually, the sub will stop automatically turning on other than during the loudest hardest hits, will work for a few minutes and then turn off until the next strong signal hit comes through. I wouldnt worry about it with most subs.

Is there any way to fix this? Sounds a lot like how my Paradigm PS1000 acts at times.
You basically have 2 options both requiring someone with knowledge of amplifiers.
1. Have it repaired. In most cases, by the time the auto sensing circuit fails, you will have caps that are leaking or popped that will need replaced as well.
2. Have the auto sensing circuit bypassed so that the sub is always on unless it is unplugged. Most electronic repair shops can handle this with most amplifiers. The sunfire sub woofer I have however was a very special design with lots of proprietary technology to Bob Carver and the Sunfire Corporation. This means that there are only a handful of people in the U.S that know how they work and how to fix it. It is going to cost me $225 plus shipping so I am debating just going with a new sub like an SVS.

With regards to tower speakers, I originally ordered a set of Definitive Technology B6 towers but one didn't work out of the box and I really didn't like the sound from the one B6 tower that did work. I think I enjoy speakers that are a little brighter than the DefTechs and found the PSBs at a local HT installer who let me listen to them.

I had this receiver for a few weeks. I returned it because it wasn't loud.
My previous Harmon Kardon would turn up to -20 on volume knob and this one ... I was always turning it up to -07 or -10 (louder) just get the same listening volume.
I ended up buying an open box (brand new with warranty) HK 3700 for $699 from OneCall.com hthat they had on sale.

I have the same problem with intermittently with my Polk PSW-1000, the auto-sensing was in and out.
Fortunately the Polk SWs have an Auto-Off-On switch so I just leave it on most of the time. I dread having to replace it, I spoke with a tech guy at Polk about fixing it and they no longer have the parts. He did say that was one of the best subs they had and didn't really have a good recommendation to replace it with lol...
I can see that. It is plenty powerful to push my towers but sometimes the volume on movies are low and I just thought it was due to my running the towers as "big" speakers with no sub. At least it has preamps so that I can add some power later. :thumb: Did you try adjusting the sound settings or did you use the Audyssey (or whatever Yamaha does for auto speaker setting)?
I picked up the RX-V673 because it had a lot of positive reviews and plenty of options/capabilities. I was hoping that it would be able to control the entire system via the HDMI but nope... hence the soon to be added universal remote.
I had a pair of Definitive Towers. I cant remember the model but they were the bi-polar design with the built in 10" woofer on the side. I as well didnt like how they sounded and tried for 2 weeks with different placements and setups. Even though they were a timber match for my Definitive center and surrounds, they didnt seem to blend properly to me. The polks I have now so far have been the best match to my ears and the bottom line is, if it sounds right to you, thats all that matters.

I bit the bullet on the weekend and retired my 50" Samsung DLP, picked up a Samsung PS64F8500 Plasma as a replacement, and wow. Leaps and bounds better than my old TV, I'm VERY happy with it so far! I've got it on a stand right now, but I'll be mounting it about a foot higher on the wall shortly. Once I get my front-wide speakers mounted and set up I'll finally be done, at that point I'll have to snap some pics of my theatre room and post them up.
