Let's talk factory Bridgestone H/T Tires

Ok so my opinion on Bridgestone has changed...I decided to go to my local Firestone shop because my dealer keeps jerking me off. I explained the situation to the kid at the counter and told him it had to be a defective tire causing my vibration/shimmy. He says OK well if you purchase the road hazard protection for $25 per tire (which I wanted anyway) they would replace all 4 tires at no charge. When I asked if they were going to replace them with the same tire, he said yes unless I wanted something else. So I decided to go for the Revo 2's which tacked on an additional $10 per tire. So for $140 I was able to get a better tire and now have road hazard protection:guitar2:

Also remember there is a 100$ rebate that just came into effect on Sept.2nd through Oct. 2nd.
As far as the difference in tire types...the thing that was funny was the Dunlop Grandtreks have a terrible rating....while the next model up was like 4.5 stars out of 5....go figure:ybrick:

They are putting them on now. I think you mis-understood my last post. The stock Bridgestones (with 5k on them) are the ones I was having a problem with. Firestone is sending them back as "defective" and not charging me anything to replace them as long as I buy the road hazard. So for $140 I am getting 4 brand new Revo 2's with protection...Thanks for all of your feedback on this!!!
That definitely worked out for you! The Revo 2's are a really nice tire.

Love the new sneaks...but of course nothing goes as smooth as you expect. I was wondering why it was taking them so long to finish my ride, and the manager comes to talk to me. I knew by the look on his face, they snapped a stud. Par for the course. They told me to come back tomorrow and they will replace it. While I am walking around the truck, I look at the wheel with only 5 studs and what do I see? A big gauge in the rim from them mounting the new tires!!!!! :crybaby:

It's inevitable that I would have damaged at least a wheel but I WANT TO BE THE ONE causing the damage!!! I would live with it if they said they would credit me the $140 I paid, that will cover the cost of the leveling spacers that are going on next week, plus the new tires are way better than stock :biggrin2:

Last Wednesday Discount Tire told me that the Revo's wouldn't be in until next Tuesday. Friday they called 30 mins before leaving work to say they had them in. I dropped by on the way home and they put them on. Five minutes after leaving the shop I threw one of the weights and it started to shimmy. I took it back first thing Sa****ay morning and they rebalanced all four again, adding weights to two of them. It's driving great now, far better than the stock Dunflops and looks better to. Can't wait to try them on something more challenging than asphalt.
Picked up my Trail and drove it home from dealer 700 miles away. Decided to have some fun this weekend and took it out to do what it was made for--off the beaten path. All the gizmos worked magnificently, one of the nicest rides off road for a grocery getter I have ever driven--- I race off road so it was hard to impress----- but impress it did.
Now on the stock H/T tires. They suck big fat sweaty balls*ck. If you trust your life offroad with these tires you are taking your life in your hands. A not very sharp rock punctured the left rear and we were dead in the water for a while. Jack handle is a nightmare to put together and you'd better have a toolkit for the set screws to make it all tight.
These are rocks normally I would skip over effortlessy on any tire out there- not so with this dreck. Why a trail rated ride such as this would come with these poor excuse for tires is beyond me. Revo 2's E rated going on as soon as I get back to town

Drove back and forth to work today...90 mile round trip. It was on 20.1 and dropped to 19.4.
When I get a week or so on them I'll report back. Next week I'm off so it won't be a real good test.

Nice...what was your total cost out the door for the upgrade?
I got full credit for my bridgestones at the local firestone shop and upgraded to the firestone destination AT's for $240 after tax, labor, and the protection plan. Would have preferred the BFG's but they would only let me do it for same brand (Firestone/Bridgestone) being a firestone shop.

I'm not aware of any. I live in Western PA as well and have the Bridgestones. I have over 11k miles on mine and I am extremely happy with them. Also had them in deep snow in the mountains near Somerset PA earlier this year and they were great.
I was very concerned that the truck would feel different after my first tire rotation. However, there was no noticeable difference in feel whatsoever. Mine still drives like it did when I drove it off the lot. Just be glad you don't have the Dunlops.

I just swapped the stock Bridgestone's that came on my trail for 285/70/17 Revo 2's. All I can say is that there is a substantial improvement in ride and steering feel on the highway.
The stockers felt like they were wandering down the highway where these stay pointed straight forward. I have not noticed any difference in road noise. If anything they are quieter...
Great upgrade! On another note my local discount tire would only give me 40per tire on trade... Only 400 miles on em so I said no thanks. Craigslist here I come!

My TE came with the OEM Bridgestone H/T. They also showed excess wear on the outside (cupped) within the first 5,000 miles. I see some BFG KOs in my future.
