in light of the hurricane here in florida.. kind of wish i pulled the trigger on one of theses already..

luckily it is missing me, but would like to be better prepared in the future.. figured i'd open up the discussion again..

assuming i keeping the stock alternator and battery (like to move up to a optima eventually) ...


Im liking the one greatape suggested above 600w... buy a fuse block place it close to the battery. Run 4 gauge wire.

What do you guys think?


I did bridge the gap and purchased a FATMAX, which is a jump starter, compressor, and usb charger.. but I want something capable of running a household appliance if need be..

Yeah, I keep a small 400W Tripp Lite inverter in the truck "just in case". For now I just have the cable with battery clamps but I'll build a harness for it to connect into my fridge wiring soon (6awg run to the battery).

I don't have any specific use that's why it's in there more as a what-if. For now all my lights, fridge, compressor, etc. are all 12v. However, I expect to be in a situation at some point where I'll need to recharge some of my cordless power tools, drill, maybe run small saw, etc.
