Let's talk trailer hitches

2008 V6 SR5. From what I've seen throughout the forums I'd prefer the hidden hitch 70779 as it seems to be tucked up a little higher however I can't seem to find it for sale online. The only thing I can find is the Curt 13445. Anyone know of any other options out there?

I have the Hidden Hitch and it is hardly hidden. Also, the 7 Pin connector is in a horrible position. If I were to do it again, I would be searching junk yards for the V8 4R hitch, and not get an aftermarket one.

I'd see if you could get a GX470 or V8 4Runner hitch, they bolt right up and are beefier.

Good to know. I haven't seen the hidden hitch in person jsut going off pictures I have seen vs the Curt I have seen in person. Thanks!

Those would require I cut my back bumper correct? Since I do not have the towing package.

No, I don't think you have to cut the bumper, but I don't know for sure. I think the V8 hitch sits lower than the V6 hitch. You might end up with a gap where the cutout for the V6 hitch was.

All 4th gens (and basically all automatic transmission vehicles) have a transmission cooler built into the radiator, so it's not like there's no cooler at all. The V8 ones also have an external cooler.

The best hitch is the toyota v8 (weight distribution) hitch it bolts right up and it is tucked in better then all the aftermarket hitches. I have one on my 06 v6 it sits in about the same spot as the factory v6 hitch however if your runner doesnt have a factory hitch I do believe there is a section you have to cut out. I bought mine on ebay for $125 with free shipping it came with all the hardware and was like new, they are out there good luck though.

Thank you, I will be looking for that. Since mine didn't come wth a hitch I do have the regular bumper cover with no cut out. But I can trim that around the hitch and make t look decent I think.
