Level 10 Transmission

I blew out the stock transmission on my 2002 limited, towing a U-haul trailer. Transmission overheated and vented fluid through the breather on top. Had to have it towed home.

I ordered a bullet proof level 10 transmission, Pat the owner recommended on of his bullet proof transmissions due to bigger tires and supercharger. He gave it to me for $3995 without sending in my old one. I had it installed by Japanese Car Specialties in Mission Viejo Ca, they are the best 4runner mechanics in Socal.

The tranny is awesome! Shift points and stall are perfect. I have a supercharger, the engine still pinged a little after dyno tuning. This transmission eliminated all pinging due to the higher stall and shift points. It's shifts very firm, and downshifts very firm. Feels like a totally different truck now.

I expect you to keep the 4Runner for 10+ years because of the transmission you bought lol. Mine is still the original one from 1999 but I surprisingly have no record of transmission service.

I've thought about a Level 10, but the price always scared me away. I ended up modifying the valve body myself with a TransGo kit for firm shifts. I'm going to regear soon though to get shorter gears, 1st gear is just way too big.

Do you know the stall speed of the torque converter that they installed?

IDK, $4k is a still a big number and OP is still keeping his old trans and getting a built trans with all the updates and mods.
In comparison, I got quoted rebuilding my existing stock Acura trans with all the factory updates for $3800.

what Level10 does is just modify the valve body and the springs to allow for more atf to flow through. so perhaps the price will be reduced if you just send your valve body to be upgraded and you are the one removing and reinstalling it.

there's another transmission upgrade company that does the valve body upgrade like Level10:

what Level10 does is just modify the valve body and the springs to allow for more atf to flow through. so perhaps the price will be reduced if you just send your valve body to be upgraded and you are the one removing and reinstalling it.
