Level Kit for '08 SR5

So I know this subject has been beat to death here, but I can't find a thread that I can just ask a couple questions on.

My first question, would a level kit void my warranty?

Second question is, the Daystar level kit goes for like $43, and the Cornfed is $100 something. What's the difference? And is one better than another? I saw the price of the Daystar and got me really wanting to level the front end a bit. Oh and if it helps, this rig will most likely not see any off roading for a very long while, but will see lots of snow.

Thanks!

You could get deep into allocation (preload vs top-spacer), you could get deep into the choice of materials and you'd discover many plusses and many minuses to either.

In the end game within the 3/4-1.5" range it probably matters very little. There are some compelling arguements for Daystars poly construction vs CF's metal contrustruction. Some prefer the CF because the metal won't compress over time.

In Cleveland I would choose the non-corroding Daystars and accept that I should check the 3 top nuts (6 total) once within a few weeks of install and then annually in case the spacer did compress over time.

Read J.A.'s write up about his choice of Daystar 2.5/1.5. He makes a good arguement. As I said earlier, top spacer vs preload on a 1" lift probably doesn't matter much. He discusses it a lot but when talking about spacer lifts in excess of 1.5" it is important. http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/lift.html

Thanks for the speedy response. So personally, I would prefer a poly spacer so it wont corrode in the crazy Cleveland weather. But you're saying the poly spacer would eventually compress? How long would it keep it's... structure? And is it something that would NEED to be replaced? Or just tightened eventually? And also would it void the factory warranty? I'm not sure if those questions made sense, but I'm a bit of an oober noober when it comes to vehicles so bare w/ me :D lol thanks!

1) In theory they may compress a bit.
2) Years and years...
3) 12-15years, maybe, nobody knows. Everybody talks about the possibility of compression and/or the need to replace them but to my knowledge nobody has had to do it.
4) Like I suggested, they should be tightened shortly after install and then checked periodically. I would do it after a few months then again at 1 year followed by annual inspection. I tend to overkill maint.
5) The only way it could void is they proved that the install procedure or the part itself caused the damage so the answer is your warranty will be fine.

daystar

i guess your thinking of a 1 in. lift? better check the thickness of the daystar puck, as far as i know, the amount of height gained is twice that of the spacer thickness. i once bought the DS 1 in. lift & theyre thickness was 1 & 1/4, ( didnt want to go 2 & 1/2) so went a different route for 1& 1/2 - 2 in. just right for me. i still have the DS if you want em, theyre for an 06 but i think its the same for an 08.

I appreciate it, but all I want is to level it out, and from what I've heard, that 2 1/2 inch would make the nose of the car higher than the rear. But thanks anyways!

I agree. It seems as though 1.5-2.0 is perfect for a very 'level' look. 2.5 would leave you a bit nose-up.

if you check the measurement , on the v8 t4r, the front sits 2 & 1/2 - 2 3/4 lower than the rear (center of wheel to fender) if you raised it 2 1/2 it would level it out but the running boards will look as if there going slightly up hill (some guts take em off) but i agree , thats why i first went with a CF 1in. , thought it wasnt enough, then put adj. coilovers for a 1 1/2 - 2 lift.( i can email you pic if you want)if you shop around, you can find coils for about 600, then just bolt em in, its only a little more cause with the pucks, youll have to pay to take em apart. with adj coilsovers youll always be able to set the height exacrly where you want. just an idea cause 1 in. is really not that noticable. well, good luck!
