Go to 10 min mark. CRAWL is quite impressive! Literally kept up with triple lockered competition. GX and G-wagen had highway tires.

I imagine they were press models, but... it was a bit odd to compare a LC150 without the rear locker to a Rubicon and Gwagen. Especially in a market where they're available the LC76 is a much more appropriate comparator from Toyota to the two others.

With no axle locker the Toyota did great. Jeep Forum I'm on had some hurt feelings over this video.

It is a Spanish video, so it is a fair comparison. Ironically, I think the 70 series is made in Portugal but I cannot possibly believe the 70 capable of passing European standards.

Of course, the Wranglers make no sense in Europe where they cost gold.

I bet. It did not look that the tires were aired down though which puts the Jeep on LT tires at a considerable disadvantage. Assuming they sell them that way in Europe.

Also, none of our vehicles here would flinch at that last obstacle. That's what my skids and sliders are for.

Looks like no rear locker option at all in the EU. BUT -- this is crazy to me, you can get a true poverty pack LC200. Look what they did to remove the screen: lol. In reality though - I'd buy it.

GX/Prado did quite well given it had highway tires, no locker and the least amount of ground clearance. And ya.....I can see how the jeep guys would get upset at this video. Kind of surprised the Rubicon didn't do better to be honest.

Now......from my bench racing armchair lol....how would a 4Runner do? I'm guessing it would of probably crested that last test given similar A-Trac and Crawl control features, taller tires (still highway rated though) and an extra inch of ground clearance (which is probably what got the GX/Prado at the end). Thoughts?

I THOUGHT THAT WAS A SCREEN!!! It's just a plastic block off plate :lmao:

Same stock tire size...just bigger rims...same 30.5” tires for 4runner and Prado (in test). Ground clearance is the same...esp if the 4runner has KDSS. Toyota fudges with ground clearance numbers (aka often times fake). So, clearance is same b/w 4runner KDSS and Prado/GX.

4Runner's 265/70 17s come out to 31.6" though.

Regarding ground clearance, guess it depends on which 4Runner model too. TRD Pros are supposed to have an extra 1 of clearance over other 4Runners. I'd be surprised, even with Toyota's rounding up/fib if the 4Runner was as low as the GX/Prado in person.

You’re right. Stand corrected. TRD Pro is higher because of 1” lift up front i think.

The Toyota numbers are indeed so-so. Mine has 9.6" of ground clearance to rear diff and had 9.6 as well under the front edge of the front skid when brand new but really 9.2" to under the rear edge of the oil pan skid, lowest point anywhere. Paper number is 9.6.

Most P265 70 17 are 31.7 and LT265 70 17 are 31.9. However, there are P-metric ones as small as 31.4 and LTs as small as 31.6. Just for the record.

The BO angle is the weakest spot but my RCI steel TC skid has fared very well. I dragged it over rocky steps twice (Backaway to CK and Boxcar) and many times over soft stuff. It barely shows anything.

A factory Trail Edition should clear that step though a modicum of momentum may (or may not) be needed.

The Pro has 0.8" up front and more importantly they come with 0.8" of extra down travel over stock in the front and 1.4" in the rear which many on this forum think is not true (but it is). This is my current setup (by way of 6112s) though I also have 7/8" rear lift.

So the Pro or any other similar setup is not just a bit lifted, it is also more stable in off-camber situations and will find traction more easily in challenging conditions.
