license plate bracket in front

I just received my plates this morning, and when I went to install them, the black screw tabs on the front bumper do not line up with the holes in the plates. My dealer says there is no such bracket to apply to the front bumper (at least from Toyota). What have other people done?

Actually, if you look at the two tabs, you will see two little dimples. Behind those dimple there are threaded holes. Your dealership parts department should give the the screws that fit, then all you have to do is drill to small holes.

The dimples, not the existing holes. You have to drill the dimples out. If you look and find the dimples, feel behind them and you will feel how thick it is behind them.

CA requires plates in front and the dealer drilled the holes on mine. Here's a picture of the holes. I'm sure there's a mark or dimple of some kind to let you know where to drill. It's the two smaller holes toward the center of the car.

I actually fabricated a bracket out of aluminum so that I didn't have to drill any holes. Arkansas doesn't have a front plate, but I wanted my American flag to go there. There's a thread or two that descibes how I did it, so you can do a search and find it.

I can't believe that in a $40,000 vehicle that there is no plate holder and I must resort to drilling the bumper. That's unbelievable!

My '04 SR5 only cost $30,000...but, at least the dealer already had the plate mounting holes drilled out. Saved me a good 75-90 seconds when it came time to put the plates on!
