license plate pannel

doese anyone know how to take this off on a 97? i recently took my 4runner off of the pannel and i know have the holes form the badge, that i woul like to patch and re-paint. also its peeling from the sun over the years so id like to bring it back to style. i cant figure out ow to get it off.

I have the same issue with mine... so I would like to know this as well. Also keep it posted the progress you make on the sanding and painting on that piece. I would like to do the same rather than replace it.

Might be way off, but have you tried from the inside? taking off the back hatch panel and looking under the matting?
