Cranking the torsion bars

If you're looking for an extra inch to fit some 33" tires you can probably get away with it.

If you start cranking up the torsion bars alot you'll end up with a horrible ride if you go too far. It makes the car feel oversprung on the front and that combined with the stock mashed potato rear suspension it messes up the balance.

I uncranked the torsion bars (lowered) the front of my first 4runner and it improved the ride and handling on the road and it didn't affect the offroadability (I think that's a new word). I offroad it in sand and gravel pits, trails etc. but I'm not into the deep mud.
