Lift and Ride Quality

So I've been researching lifts for a while now and have come across many opinions on the type of ride quality as a result of different lifts. Such as LC coils with a Cadillac ride quality and OME 891's being too stiff.

What are your guys opinions and reviews of coils, shocks,spacers and so on? I know tires may have an effect on ride quality too so include it if you like.

I have a set of the Toytec coilovers (bilstein shocks wrapped in eibach springs) in the front and a set of the OME 890's and OME shocks in the rear. I love them. I did my lift first and then wheels and tires second. Definitely noticed more "stiffness" when I got my wheels and tires.

In the end I guess it comes down to what you are looking for and what you are going to be using your 4Runner the most for.

Looks? Light wheeling? SAS trail rig?

I'm already going with the LC/Tundra set up. It will be a DD with some light/moderate wheeling when I get the chance (new baby so chances are slim right now). Just wondering what people thought of their set up.

Sounds like a solid setup. I would say the only complaint I hear about the LC lift is that it sags a bit under load, but it also sounds like it has the best on-road quality.

I have the OME setup, with the 890 rear springs. Way too stiff for my likings. Well I don't really mind it, but my back does! I'm going to be swapping in some 7 or 8 wrap LC coils in the back.

I have heard that they sag too, but I typically don't have anything in the back. I got 7.5 wraps, but I may eventually going to 8 wraps to deal with the sag. I also have a toytec diff drop, 1/2" spacer and 1" body lift to add to it. I just need to make some more money and sell my 2nd gen and get my 3rd gen. Most likely by the new year I should be ready to buy.

thought id chime in about my 891's. I am so happy I got them over the 890s. Got good lift, and IMO, it rides how a truck should. It is by no means plush, but definitely not unbearable. Not to mention I loaded 1100lbs of rock (in 2 loads) into my 4runner and it barely sagged it each time.

891s aren't stiff at all if you load them. They really aren't designed to ride nice with an empty truck, 890s are much better for that. But if you carry around 600 lbs. all the time like me, they ride smoother than my stock OEM coils did before I lifted it. If you have or are going to be getting bumpers and armor, 891s are way better than anyhting out there IMO.

i have the fj coils in the rear and with the stock set up the ride was a little bit more stiff but felt like a truck should. now that i have a swing out tire carrier they are a bit too soft, not much sag just a little more mushy than id like. if any one in the north west has some 891's they think are too stiff i think we could work something out :bluejump:
