expect to pay about 400 for a shop to do it

My buddy is a mechanic and since I didn't feel like messing with the IFS, he put the lift and fog lights in for 280 bucks. But we've known him for like 12 years and is a good friend of ours so he took a lot of money off.
 
if your not going to the shop you ordered the stuff through there is a good chance they will charge you a shop rate of $50 an hour or more ($50 is cheap for the most part) the job takes about 3-4 hours to complete, so do the math, really i would say drive it to a few different shops and get quotes, make it sound like you could do it yourself but just don't want to be bothered also ask if they sell kits and if they could give you a fixed price on buying their kit and installing it or try and haggle a set price with one of these shops, i am not a big fan of paying by the hour as most mechs just stroll around the shop when looking for tools or whatever, if i'm paying by the hour i want to see some hustle. that's me though, seriously go to a few different shops or call around and get a quote.

don;t forget you'll need an alignment after this as well, go to the firestone shop near you and buy the lifetime one for $140 that way if you need to change anything after the lift or you hit a curb or whatever you get free alignments for the as long as you own the truck.
 
Its free if you do it yourself, just find a buddy with a driveway and some tools. Since your willing to pay for the install just have ToyTec assemble everything for you, then all you have to do is bolt it in the place of your existing setup...easy breezy
 
i installed my lift all by my self with basic hand tools now keep in mind the struts where already assembled but having 2 people helps

that said he has some weird issues going on that 90% of us who have done lifts didn't have and to be honest i think his issue is more about he got the wrong parts as opposed to not being able to actually put the lift in, if you order it direct from toytec and have it all pre assembled for you it is a really easy job, i have never lifted an IFS before this and have to be honest when i say it was no harder if not easier then some of the straight axles I've done over the years.

you can either pay someone else to do it or you can do it yourself and know how to do it from now on in as well having a better understanding of how things are put together, that said i'm not going to lean on you to hard about doing it yourself, some people just aren't comfortable with a wrench in their hand, and that's up to you to decide, on a scale of 1-10 of difficulty i give this a 4 to maybe 5, 1 being changing a head light bulb and 10 being a engine/tranny swap/build (meaning you must know how to fabricate and set the tolerances in an engine and transmission)
also for point of reference i would give an oil change a 2-3 and doing the front brakes a 3-4

that's my personal view on it, have a lok around go get some quotes and decide if you want to do this or not. good luck man!:D

Thanks for the rating of the difficulty on the install. A 4 or 5 I could probably managed with a little free beer help. I think that's my plan.

with my experience, it was extremely easy. took my friend and I three hours. Especially if you take your springs and struts to get assembled for 40 bucks, then you just bolt everything back in.

I would have to disagree and rate that a 1-2 out of 5 lol
 
just got my new 880 and 905 /5100 all ready to go and called my local "4x4" place and got a quote of just install of $960! plus 120 for an alignment.

My regular mechanic said they can do it for $450.

960 bucks???....That's ridiculous

Shit, even the 120 for an alignment is too high. Alignments are 80 bucks around here (Wi).

Hmmm... My favorite, if you can get your hands on it, is from Other Half Brewing Co. - Space Daydream. It’s gotta be the best beer I’ve ever tasted. That’s a really tough one to get your hands on, so I’d say any of the 60, 90, or 120 Minute IPA’s from Dogfish Head.
