well, we got it installed yesterday! i'm pretty stoked. big thank you to Hepar and sogoood! definitely couldn't have done it without their help. :biggrin2:

the setup is as follows:
SS trd/bilstein coilovers
8-wrap LC/bilstein 5125's

anyways, here are some pics before and after:

Holy mother of rake! i wasn't expecting that much rake with 8-wrap lc coils in the back!
rear after:

front after:

so in the end, i got 3in up front and 6in in the back!
i don't know if the rears will settle that much since i got the springs used already. we'll see... if not, i may be looking for some 7-wraps.

That's how high my rears sits and another inch higher than yours in the fronts..but those measurements are with the 285 70 17's.

Jeez, it looks like at any moment it could lift one of it's rear wheels and pi$$ on the car next to it...

That is more rake than I would like, but it sure is a dramatic difference. Makes me more excited about the lift that is likely in my future.

Does a in lift in the back put any additional stress on other components?

weird...mine doesn't sit with that much rake. I used Tundra coils up front with the top-out spacer and 8 wraps in the rear. What did you use for the fronts?

if you are using these: Econo-Adjustable Front Coil-Over : Sonoran Steel, Sonoran Steel Custom Metal Fabrication L.L.C. Custom Toyota Truck Parts
then it's probably because you don't have the top-out spacer. I'm not sure if SS sold them with it or without it. Most likely without based on the pictures on their website. I would order some from toytec to lift the front a little more and get a diff drop in there as well. it'll level things out a little more. I only got 4" of lift with the 8 wraps. Probably because I was already sitting higher than most with the 99 tall springs.

You can probably adjust your coilovers up another inch or so & combined with the top-out spacer that would give you about 2" of rake instead of 4"...

Dang! That rake looks HUGE in pics. It doesn't look that intense in person. Just got home from getting my wheels and tires put on. Posting pics soon.

is that the 1.2 sonoran system? mine looked exactly the same when i first put my lift on. since then, it has mos def settled down an inch or 2 in the back....it wont take too long for everything to settle. esp if you are putting some aftermarket bumpers on there.

unfortunately most of us only run front bumpers which will add to the problem, i'm getting ready to install this same lift almost i'm putting in the 8 wrap in the rear and ome 88x's (heavy) in the front with a 3/4 inch spacer, i pray to god mine doesn't have that much rake, other wise i may just pull the rears out and replace with ome. or whatever else i can find.

nice! looking forward to pics...

yea, i don't think the rear is going to settle since the coils are used. i'm wondering why others that run 8-wrap LC's don't seem to have nearly this much lift?! I would like 1-1.5 in of rake, but as it sits now, it's at 3in of rake... looks a bit extreme imo.
anyone have any ideas why these 8-wraps are so ridiculously tall? i could raise the front coilovers (SS adjuatable, already assembled so they have top plates), but with no additional weight, 3in. is the suggested height or else there won't be enough preload on the springs.

right now it's a bit sketchy to drive because the panhard bar is not attached. i need to order a drop or an adjustable one.

yea the rake is crazy. hows the ride? maybe crank up the fronts an inch? and make sure you install that diff drop!

i would buy the drop bracket because its cheaper haha. Just go to a shop and they'll weld it for you.

Why is the panhard not attached??

Calm down everyone, it will settle, LOL

the back will definitely come down a bit. give it a week or so and remeasure it.

no need to panic :D

Edit: yeah, dont do anything drastic, yes, they are used and they still will settle, I guarantee it.

yeah, you definitely need to get that back on... you shouldnt have had to take that off to get those coils in. I got my 9 wraps in without taking it off.

not arguing with you duhockey as you actually know how this all works out since you have those coils in teh rear and i have them in my garage your the man who should know, i'm just trying to wrap my head around this...

if the lc coils came from the front end of a LC which is where the engine lives and obviously massively heavier then the rear end of our 4runners, how/why do they settle? you;d only expect that to happen when breaking in if new or being put under a heavier load then what was previously used?

again not arguing buddy just trying to understand how that works, i really have no clue as to how it all works out since mine are still sitting in the box?

no problem... its all good, the springs that you put in your 4runner arent new at all, in fact most have 100k plus on them if not more, 2nd the lift comes from the fact that they are spring rated for the engine and front of a much heavier vehicle. I understand what you are thinking, but the settling doesnt have anything to do with the spring rate of the coil. it has to do with the age of the coil more than anything. New coils dont settle at all, they stay stiff and ridged and break in over time. thats why when you put in fresh springs you can get a lift over the sagging coils you just took out even at stock height springs,

U have a coil that was under a ton of weight and then sat out in the hot and cold and with no weight on it and contracted and expanded with temperature without any weight load. When you put in the coils they will sit high until they start expanding and compressing under the weight of the vehicle and get "rebroken in" check out the pics from my 8 wraps the first night I took them, should be in my build thread, then look at the pics later on, they settle everytime guys. In fact, I think those are the EXACT coils from my 4runner if Im not mistaken. yep, they are. I sold the smaller ones from Dylans 4runner to colton.

Oops. That was my call. Didn't have to take it out to do mine either, but we needed a lot more clearance to get those springs in. Maybe we got too unbolt happy.

good to know Shon, thanks again for the coils! to clarify, you had your panhard attached with these coils and no drop? and the axle was still centered?

i honestly don't see how we could have gotten them in otherwise?! i'm going to try tonight to get it back on tomorrow.

Did you leave the factory cones in? I think that might be why you have a 3" rake.

I have those cones in also... and I had them in when I had the exact same coils, it will settle, no worries about that.

as far as the panhard goes, yeah, we got them in without discoing it, if you do the driver one first and then the passenger and have someone stand on the brake drum you can usually wiggle them in, on the 9 wraps I had to use a coil compressor, but we also did them backwards...

my axle looks centered to me... never had anyone thats worked on my truck with me mention it not being. The geometry will be better once I do an extension but I dont have plans for that in the immediate future.
