Lift Kit Question

If i was to do just a small lift like a 2/1 would it void my warranty? Someone told me it would, and since my truck is only 2-3 months old I don't want to do it yet if it will void everything. Since it's still new I want to make sure everything is still covered to make sure that nothing malfunctions.

Also, what lifts are there that work with Xreas?

First of all, any spacer lift - like a cornfed or daystar, both with great reviews, will work with XREAS.
Now on the warranty, thats a touchy one. The law states that any add on can not void your warranty unless the dealer can prove that it is that accessory that caused the problem you are wanting warrantied. That said, think about it. Iy only takes a dealer to say "no we can't fix it cause you lifted that thing"The normal Joe Smoe is not gonna find the law, pursue legal action, and foot the bill. So its kind of how much trouble you want to deal with or how much you trust your dealer. I have had my dealer tell me that they would be fine with some intake, an exhaust, and a lift kit if it was from a reputable company like OLD MAN EMU or Fabtech. I have also though had a dealer not warranty a Mitsubishi with an electrical problem because of a Nitrous kit. So thats what I know. The law is The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

I've heard a lot of bad shit about the dealers around me. So I might just wait untill the 36,000 miles/3years is up before I do that. I mostly drive snow anyways so I guess I don't really NEED it. Just thought it would look good.

I'm just keeping the stock lights for now until I figure out more about how to install them, get some extra cash, stuff like that. I've got a lot of expensive mods that i'm workin on at the moment, so we'll see.

Plenty of Toyota dealers around, if one won't do warranty work because of a mod, try another one.

I'd imagine the d(st)ealer would give you a hard time if you tried to get warranty work on the XREAS. Personally, if something goes wrong with XREAS on my truck, I'll be happy since that means it's time for Donahoes

The thing of it is , is that all the dealers are tied together with linked comp's through Toyota , so they and even Toyota can monitor exactly whats going on.

The other thing with that warranty action , the dealer can come up with a reason and say this is why this happened , unfortunately you don't have a leg to stand on while your vehicle sits at the dealer while you try to argue your way out of it.

any modification you perform, that part you modified will void the warranty. this does not mean that if you change your radio your engine get voided. the part you touch basically goes out the window.

so if you modify your suspension, any warranty work required on the suspension will not be covered anymore.

Your warranty WILL NOT be voided for simply installing an aftermarket part or modification. The only way the dealer can give you problems is if your modification caused the failure of another part under warranty.

So if you install a spacer lift and your sway links break, for example, your dealer would have to prove that your spacer lift caused or contributed to your sway bar links breaking.

But they will probably flat out tell you that they will not honor the warranty. They will probably assume that you will just listen to them and not bother with all of the steps you would have to take to get justice.

I used to work for Toyota, and we had plenty of people with modified vehicles in for warranty work.

If the modification had nothing to do with the warranty work being performed, the dealership isn't going to care. They get paid either way.

Besides, if you ever had trouble with a Toyota dealership not honoring your warranty, it would only take a simple telephone call to rectify the situation. Look in your Toyota warranty booklet for the telephone number to call.
