lift kits

I don't know if they screw stuff up or not. But I wish I had a lift kit last Saturday. Just look at the picture! Sat there for 15 minutes:( . Then I ended up going up and over cuz I couldn't reverse cuz I'm 2wd. And then the trail turned to crap and I couldn't jump to the good trail because there was a big 2' deep trench that I couldn't cross cuz I don't have a lift once again. So my friend and I had to sit there and build 2 bridge things that cross the ditch out of dirt/rocks for like an hour. Luckily the 2 guys that stopped pulled up just as we were done and they only saw us manhandle the crossing through the trench and down the super steep slope. Well, now that all of you guys know what happened....lol oh well.

At this point, I really dont care if a lift is good for your car or not. I want one.

Depends on what lift you get. Everything is a compromise, so if you lift you will loose some handling capability but gain alot offroad. Also dont assume lift will mess up your ride, some small lifts you will not notice the difference.

And then again even with a lift you will also get stuck :D

change it... not screw it up

Unless you have someone install it improperly...

The nature of a lift will raise the center of gravity of the vehicle, which means you need to be a little more cautious in high speed turns and parking garages. Some lifts can make the ride more stiff (depending on the spring rate) or softer. A good example of this was on wranglers with leaf springs... Stock ride was stiff, Rancho lift was smoother with more flex. Tires will affect the ride as much or more than the actual lift itself. BFG AT's have very stiff sidewalls which create a stiffer ride. Lower profile tires also create a stiffer ride because there is little flex in the small sidewall.

The only lift I have heard bad things about is the NE lift with the relocs (many threads about this on multiple forums). I think the lift itself is okay, but the reloc seem to mess with the angles for XREAS. If you don't have XREAS, I know of no issues...

lift or not lift, you will get stuck in some situations. based on that photo, it is apparent that you don't have 4wd so thus the reason why you got stuck. If you had the 4wd system in your 4r, you would have been able to get out of there relatively easily.

also another note: please air down to give you more surface area for your tires (this alone will greatly improve your offroading abilities).

good luck

yeap. too poor for 4wd:(. I'll take note- air down. I was thinking winch too, but a mounting location or it would be difficult huh?

RL Lemke is about to get Donahoe coilovers ... and I'm about to get Sway-A-Way coilovers ....
but if you just want a spacer lift, you can't go wrong with Revtek. I ran that kit for a long time and absolutely loved it. Never had a problem at all.

Lots of people also like the Daystar kit!

spacer kits:
Revtek
Daystar
Cornfed

coilovers:
SAW
Donahoe
Downey

that's all i can think of right now anyway.

thanks, im about to get a new SR5 and i liked the look of the Daystar 2.5 spacer, how much different is a spacer than a lift?
