Lift on a Budget

Hey guys,

Been lurking for a while on info on lifts and am ready to pull the trigger already.

I've located a pair of LC front Coils off a 97.
Color Codes:
19.25" Double Purple Dark Blue White 8 wraps
19" Double Pink Light Blue White 7.5 wraps

Offered $40 and I should be picking them up this weekend. :banana:

Now.

I do have the taller '99 springs and was wondering if I could get away with the front coils/shocks with some 1.5-2.5" spacers for the time being till I'm able to find some Tundra TRD springs or some used OMEs.

I am pretty sure I am going to replace the front/rear shocks, but is it completely nesessary? Could I get away with just the rears for the time being?

All input and opinions are appreciated :)

I'd wait until you have money for the front. Like Deceptiwave said, don't waste your money on spacers. I did my lift for under $350 front and back. If you are using LC coils and don't want rake, I'd wait until you can afford some coilovers. With the LC coils, you will also need to get longer shocks and I highly recommend you don't use stock shocks with them if it's even possible. Good luck

Don't 1/2 ass it. You'll piss away $$ on the spacers, the disassembly/reassembly of the front struts, and an extra alignment if you do it twice. Wait till you can afford the whole package (4 new shocks, front lift coils, a diff drop, and an adjustable pan hard bar or pan hard drop bracket) before you even install the LCs in the rear.

x2:iagree: Rear Shocks for a stock LC are not expensive 35 each then look for your front shocks and Coils and pick up a diff drop from toytec or Sonoran Steel. Then in one day put it all in you will be much happier.
 
I did the spacer lift a year ago, and now have to replace my stock shocks and coils in the front anyway....I wish I would have just waited and saved up a little more.....and done it the right way in the 1st place!
 
Yeah that sames to makes more sense.

Half Assing it now would cost me more in the end.

Onward to finding some Tundra TRD Springs. Haven't been able to come across any. Anyone got a ballpark figure on a used pair? Figuring around $100?

Is the adjustable pan hard or drop bracket for it necessary? I thought it was more of an accessory...
 
well if you don't use a drop bracket or an adjustable panhard your rear axle will sit towards(pulled) the passenger side. I get rear steer with the LC coils when one is full stuff and the other is drooping. This is because on way up the axle moves towards the back and on way down it moves forward. With the extended springs and shocks it is more noticeable.
 
Picked up the LC Coils for $20 this weekend.

Found a pair of OME 883 front coils for a good deal. I know these are med. coils for a heavier load.


If I'm just riding stock up front, will these ride ok?
