have 97 4runner v6 2wd. don't do any off-roading with it and its my wife's car. i have new wheels to put on it soon, waiting for the old tires to wear down a bit. new wheels are 15x8 and i want to put a mild lift on it just to make it more aggressive. what size tires should i run on these wheels. wondering people's opinions. looking for a lift that has good on-road performance(nice ride since wife and kids will be in it) sorry no dirt for me.

For 15x8's I would probably go for a 31x10.5 tire. If you currently have the factory 15" rims keep in mind that they are only 7" width so look out for any clearance issues when you fit them.
For a lift kit, go with spacers. They are simply a disc that sits on top of your existing coil springs to make them taller. Your rig will have the same feel as it does now (not stiffer or looser), but may have slight increase in body roll when cornering since the center of mass is now higher than before. Look up Revtec lifts.

You're not going to wheel it. Doesn't make sense. It's like the riced out Civics with huge Formula1 wings on the back.

You may want to consider using coils to lift you 4runner. Stock '99 4runner coils would do the trick and give you about 2" of lift and it would ride just as good as now if not better. The spacers will wear down your springs quicker and eventually sag them sooner. Or you could go with a set of performance products springs that will give you about 2" of lift as well. PP Springs seem to get good reviews but would probably be a little stiff than spacers or '99 coils.
i have never actually put them on yet but they are the correct bolt pattern. they are old school boyds wheels that i bought almost 7 years ago when boyds went out of business. got them for dirt cheap. they are still in the factory boxes still wrapped up. the boyds factory warehouse was 2 min from my home. they are under the name boyd coddington now. my 4runner has 15" on right now which are stock, so i figure they would work no prob. later
