hey man im gonna get the ball joint spacers to to get a smoother ride, anyways for the back what i did was got a coil spring out of a late 90s jeep cherikee and cut it down to 10 inches. i compressed it and put it between the bumpstops on the back leafs, it sounds bad but thats how i got rid of my "saggy rear end" they act as over load springs. ill get somepics on here for you to see my madnes. but it was a 3in lift for 20 bucks i was happy, plus its kinda bouncy for when ya need it ;-D
 
i have no idea about the 2nd generation springs, the only reason it was three inches is because my rear end was already low so the springs put it up in the air, the ball joint spacers made it almost level. mine looks good, if your gona do the coil spring thing you have to made sure that it fits snug around your upper bump stop. ill take a few pics tomarrow and you can see what you think. my uncle did it to his 2nd generation truck to act as an over load to hall around all his tools and welders and such. gives you lift and its functional

I thought about doing the same thing with mine, except with '97 4Runner springs. I changed out the springs on my Wifes truck, so they are free :)

Can't wait to see the pics to see how to do this....

Can you look at your vacuum lines and tell me where some of your vac. lines route to?

ok i have pictures of my truck and the springs but im new on here and i have no idea how to get the pics on here.... i no i no... IDIOT!
 
you can experiment with it.... i started out with them at 11 inches and put them in and it was to high but i cut it off little by little till i had the stance i was looking for... it gave me alittle smoother ride to, that or the shocks lol
 
ok cool just make sure that when you put them in u have to compress them,"while flexing your leafs with a jack" that way they will never come out if your wheeling... unless you snap your leaf spring
 
i got a bottle jack and put it between the leafs and the frame, jacked it up so it was showing full flex out of the springs... if you do that and have to compress the springs i garentee you they wont come out unless you break something... if it sounds redneck its because it is... lol i needed lift and i was broke worked great
 
if you can go for it, i actually did it by wrapping ratchet straps around the srpings, once again very redneck. if you can use a real spring compresser go for it it should have enough room to slide in
