Lift & Snow capability

I don't do a lot of off-roading, but I bought my trd specifically to increase my winter access to a remote cabin in northern MN. I have about 1 mile of unplowed road with some decent elevation changes to get through after the maintained portion of the road.

Would a minor lift improve my ability to get through deep and often old snow? I've got a winch, related recovery gear, and some snow tires that got me in a little early this year, but I'd like to get to year round access. Does a lift make much difference in snow? There are plenty of trees around for winching when necessary, but I'd prefer to avoid that this year if at all possible.

A lift would certainly help in deeper snow but you will also want greater traction. A set of snow chains will get you in further without having to winch out of a stuck situation.

A lift will definitely help, although your front and rear axles will still be a factor.

Actually airing down the tires is your best bet. 18-20 PSI will get you a
lot further than a lift alone.

You may want to consider buying a blade for your 4runner and plowing the road yourself a few times per winter. If the snow is not too deep to drive through, it will be relatively easy to push with your 4runner if you don't let it set up too long. Plus it looks totally manly to have a blade on your truck - better even than a winch.

I think I'd have to have more of a lift than I want in order to have much impact. I'll probably just go with chains and recovery gear.
