Lift suggestions

I'm pretty new to the "mod" world for trucks, so maybe some people can point me in the right direction.

my 2000 4r's ride has been a bit...ok, way too stiff over the last year or so and after discovering this forum, I've been interested in researching a lift for it in the future.

I don't plan on off-roading at all and want a smooth ride, maybe a bit less stiff than someone that wants that ultimate control needed for wheelin'.

I'd also like to stay under 2 inches.

So, that being said....can anyone direct me to some trusted web sites to purchase some coils/shocks from? Is it better to buy a kit, or buy each item separate? Should I start with just a body lift, or are those shunned upon?

Also looking for suggestions for tires for an about 2" lift. I will most likely keep my stock rims, since the wife factor would be in the red if I did a complete overhaul.

Just go with 265/75 which will fit w/o a lift and not suck up too much power. I wouldn't go bigger if you aren't going offf road.

Lift wise you could do a full OME setup for about $700 like this one http://sleeoffroad.com/products/4runner_suspension.htm

or just go with the taller '99 OEM coils and keep it stock and still get another inch and maintain the stock ride.

Body lifts are not frowned upon, but in your case, not needed because they are usually added for tire clearance after a suspension lift. Plus, you have an 8 year old vehicle and will be replacing suspension components sometime in the near future, better to spend money towards components that are going to need replacement. (good point to make when the wife starts asking questions) I'd recommend you look at the OME front N91SC shocks with 881 springs. Note that the SC provides the ride you are looking for. For the rear, go with N86C shocks with 906 coils. OME builds reliable products that have withstood the test of time and they are not outrageously priced. Like Ron posted, you can get them for about 700 bucks.

Since you are looking to retain ride quality, and avoid harshness while keeping price in check. I would recommend BFG Long Trails. They look agressive because BFG continues the tread partially down the sidewall, But in reality are a nice highway all terrain. They ride nice and quiet, wear well and absorb road shock. They were so good as original tires on my Blazer, I bought the same set when it came time to replace them. At $105 a piece for 265/75/16 they are a steal!
