Lift/tire combo questions, comments, concerns?

I am fairly new at this forum but feel like I have read enough posts to make one myself. I wish to call upon the thousands of years of experience and wisdom held by the people of this forum!!!

I have a 2000 T4r Sport and I just ordered the Toytec Ultimate 3" Lift and a 1" body lift. I was looking at the Terra Graplers in a 285/75/16 which is supposed to be about 32.7 inches. I was planning using some wheels with a 4.25 backspace. I understand Toytec's max tire size recomendation with no BL is 275/70/16 or 32" but what about with the 1" BL? Anybody have any comments about that combo? Think I will need some wheel spacers?

Now I have some other questions to: Is it the fenders that cause the most clearence issues once you get up to a 33" tire?; What are people's opinions about adjustable Trac/Panhard bars, and they a good idea?; Should I have an extended rag joint for just 1" of BL?

Hopefully I am not beating a dead horse by posting these questions. Please direct me to threads already discussing these issues if you know of them.

You'll clear 285s with that set-up. You might have to do minor trimming of the plastic fender liners and pound a couple of pinch welds flat with a hammer, but I have a 3" sus and a 1" body and clear 285s no problem. In fact, I'm pretty sure I can clear some old 305s I have in my basement which I'm going to put on in the spring.

Stock wheels are 4.65" or so backspacing and for 285s, you only need to run .25" wheel spacers with stock rims (which essentially makes it 4.40" BS'ing), so your wheels with 4.25" BS'ing should work without needing spacers. It'll be close to the UCAs, but it shouldn't rub.

The fenders, the UCAs, and the frame are where the rubbing problems occur, but you'll be ok with the set-up you describe. Adjustable pan hard bars make the rear axle centered again after you lift it, but I don't have one and it's no big deal. I'll probably get one in the future, but it has never caused me any problems with out it and I've been sportin a lift for years now.

You should have enough splines on your steering shaft to not need an extension for the rag joint if you do a 1" BL. Here, read this:

Awesome info thanks. I figured the adjustible pan hard bar would help with clearance by putting the tires in the best spot.

2x on clearing the 285's. I've got 285's, without a body lift, and only had to trim the lower front plastic valance on the bumper.

I am showing my newbness here but can someone show me where this pinchweld is? Here are some pics of my drivers side front wheelwell. Is it under the plastic fender flare?

The pinch weld is on the driver and passenger side fire wall area down on the lowest point of the body. It should be covered in plastic that is black if you haven't already trimmed that up.

I see. my pics don't show that area. I will have to look again tomorrow.

yeah if you follow in the last pic that black plastic all the way down to where it ends about 5" in from the outermost part of the fender it runs along there under the plastic
