Lift to fit 33's?

What kind of lift would I need (If Any) to squeeze 33's under an 87 bone stock 4Runner?

I'm considering something like a 2" Suspension & 2" Body Lift, then down the road go with the full SAS, once I've tested her a little with the IFS.

Been wheeling Xterras for a few years, new to the Toyota. Will soon be tearing into my new Toy tho, CVs are all blown so that will be the first job.

Others may tell you different, but my answer is: Depends.

I have a friend running 33x12.50's on his bone stock 4runner with only a flattened-out pinch weld.
Lots of guys on Yotatech are running 33x9.50 or 33x10.50's with no lift what-so-ever.
If your torsion bars are super soft, you may find that you need tighten them up a bit. For $25 you can get a set of Add-a-Leaf's for the rear on EBay.

Generally speaking though, lots of folks run narrow, 33-in BFG A/T's or M/T's with no lift.

Awesome. I'm probably going for 33x10.5x15's. Unless I can find a cheap set of used Wheels & Tires on Craigslist or somethin.

$25 AAL! Sounds nice - will have to check Ebay for those.

So you can do a T-Bar crank to lift the front end a little? Didn't know that, same as with the First Gen Xterras - they call that and a rear shackle a Poor Mans Lift (PML).

Then you probably know that cranking the t-bars reduces travel in the oppposite direction and gives a much harsher ride. If you just want the height for looks, fine. If you really want to wheel, forget cranking the t-bars. AAL's also give lift, along with a stiffer ride.

If you want to fit 33's and be able to get some decent articulation for some offroading and minimize tire rub, try some 2" ball joint spacers in the front and a 2" lift shackle in the rear, along with a 2" BL.

Who sells the 2" Ball Joint spacers. I was only able to find 1.5" through Google. Deffinately something I am interested in, along with the AAL and Shocks most likely. Just for some AZ wheeling.

Hope to go the SAS route eventually. But not for 12 months.

Again, this is MY opinion.
I opted for 2" blocks under my leaf springs rather than AAL. For what I do, it works well. It gave me the lift I needed and it did not result in a stiffer ride. People always talk about axle wrap, but with my weak 22re and only 2" blocks, I've experienced no problems.

You can get a 2" cast aluminum block set from autozone or checker for about $15 and then get a u-bolt flip kit because you will need longer hardware.

Blocking the rear isn't going to give me any additional articulation like an AAL / Longer shocks would. I should be able to do the AAL / Shocks for $250 at the most I'd imagine and get more articulation out of it. Then maybe if I wanted an extra Inch or so later to clear bigger tires I'd consider blocking the rear.
