Lifted 4Runner = S.O.L.?

Hey guys, so I went to rotate my tires this weekend and noticed that the stock bottle jack doesn't go high enough to lift my 2" CF lift. Neither does the heavy duty bottle jack my dad bought me 5 years ago when I turned 16. I ended up putting a brick and some sheet metal underneath. Likewise, jack stands barely (and I mean barely) extend enough. So...
What happens when I need to replace a tire on the side of the road? Has anyone else had this problem? Surely a brick isn't too safe. Thoughts? :bash:

Really??? I just rotated my tires myself last week. Took awhile to lift the truck, but it got high enough to remove the tire. I didn't get massive altitude like before the lift, and I didn't take any measurements... but there was enough daylight under the tire to take it off, and brace it with my feet to get it back on. The Jack stands are worthless though.

Edit - I used the stock bottle jack, had no problems both on flat ground or driveway.

I had a pick-up fall when I was about 18 years old. I didn't get hurt thankfully.

PLEASE get a 2x6 and cut it up and make some wood blocks. I had the same scenario, a bottle jack, a brick and a pick-up. The brick shattered. And yes, I know blocks of wood can split but overall wood is good:D Eh eh eh eh, I said 'wood':bouncy:


Sorry for sounding like Mom but I almost got hurt bad... Scared me.
 
I tore a tire on my tacoma which had a fabtech 3.5" coil over and BFG 33"x12.5" :cool: I used AAA. Worth the money!!!

Disclaimer: This by all means is NOT an advertisement for AAA, but an advertisement for not haveing to carry around a crazy huge jack for the one time ten years you actually have to use it.

Do you have a lift? Where were your lift points?

Yep, I was planning on doing that, but I didn't have it at the time. My dad pretty much sternly said the same thing =O

Yep, I actually don't have one. I just hear that's the way to go.

yeah, I have a 2/1 cornfed. I used the frame, no special points, just relatively close to the tires.

Wierd! I have no clue what to say. Has anyone else had either problems or no problems with this?
 
I just checked you after measuremets on your lift thread and compared them with mine because I was going to be pissed if yours was taller, but ours are similiar enough to where it shouldn't matter. If you want, you can measure your bottle Jack, and I can measure mine and see if yours is indeed shorter.

I'll do that later tonight after finals =O
 
Seems to me the bottle jack should work just fine under the axle in the rear and in the front under the "A" arm (I think its called).
Just like before the lift.
Probably not under the frame since its now higher.
I haven't tried to raise mine with the bottle jack since I put my lift on.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the axle and front "A" arm aren't any higher than they were before.
Even if you upsized your tires, I would think the bottle jack would still work.
Shit, I better go try out my bottle jack.
 
No problems here with the stock bottle jack the one-time I used it with my ~3" OME lift. Most of the time though I use a speed jack that allows much higher lifting.
 
Hmmm. I finished moving in, so I'm going to measure that sucker tomorrow.

Perhaps we should talk about lift points? I was under the assumption that for the front, u lift behind the tires on the frame and for the back, you lift on either side of the axle. Incorrect? Are there other points?
