New member
New here just sold my Sti in need for a larger vehicle that I can use to haul some stuff around. Anyway I had to de-momify the thing and make it my own!

Daystar 2.5/1.5 preload style
All Pro 1.25" Spacers
265/70 Terra Grapplers
And tinted the front windows with 30%, Checked the backs with a light meter and they were 29%, glad I didn't go with the 20%!

I keep watching ebay for a good deal on the Scion T1809 so I can get my Ipod hooked back in!

I like....must feel like your in a plane coming from an STI. Was your alignment within spec after the lift?

How many miles?

haha i was kinda used to the higher vehicle, used to have a couple taco's!

it's an 05' with 55k v8 4wd

tried and tried to get an alignment today but have to wait til' thursday morning to find out the specs. looks to have a little positive camber that i can see

How does she handle with the Daystar preload spacers? stiffer than stock?

I'm still debating whether to do preload or topout spacers or just wait and send the money on a full suspension kit.

Im a newbie here that doesnt know to much, but could someone tell me this difference between a preload and topout spacers?
 
I'd also like to ask a possibly naive question to clear up some confusion. I'm interested in a lift strictly to help clearance for off road locations I go to where there are rocks involved. I'm very worried about ground clearance based on the suspect number given for ground clearance on the 4Runner of 9 inches. It sure doesn't look to be that much.

As I understand it, body lift does NOT actually give you more clearance from rocks / obstructions...only from tire rub. Is that correct? In addition I'm under the impression the typical lift using spacers we often see on this site, such as the real nice looking lift warwagon's picture shows, actually DOES actually provide more real ground clearance. Is that assumption also correct?

Last question when you see people saying, for example, a 1" spacer give a resulting 2" lift....does that mean your ground clearance truely increased by a net 2 inches? Sorry if these questions seem too elementary, but I coming from a pick up that had much more clearance and never had to considering lifting. I honestly have no conception of exactly how this works.

It is just a tad rougher in the front, hardly noticeable.


Maz, you are correct about the body lift not giving ground clearance. Suspension lifts give you ground clearance.
And your last thought about 1" spacer giving 2"s of lift on these truck, it has something to do with the suspension geometry of the front ends, but a 1" would give you 2" of ground clearance. That is only true about the front ends if I am remembering correctly because the back spacers are generally what the lift calls for, inches wise.
 
The T1806 and T1808 will work too. Although I believe the T1806 is the only one that has LEDs and the LCD that matches the stock lighting. Also I think it looks cooler in the truck, but I haven't really seen too many pics of the t1809.
 
that 1808 isn't too bad looking either, kinda like the screen on the 1809 better but the 8 would match the dash better.

So does the light coming in through the fronts and backs look pretty consistent now? Can you snap a pic from inside at some point?

I'm wanting to tint my fronts to cut the light a bit, but don't want them looking significantly darker from the inside. I've got no problem with them looking a little lighter than the rears from the outside.

The fronts are 2% lighter than the rears so I think it is about perfect(place where I used to work tinting windows now has a light meter for windows). Did you look at my new pics in the gallery, you should be able to get a good representation.

Got the alignment done last weed or so(I work shift and loose track of time alot :withstupid: ). The guy asked me if it was in a wreck because the toe was so far off, I just laughed and told him about the lift.

Thanks for the response warwagon. I saw your reponse to drbiii about the preload spacers only being a tad rougher. Can I also ask you on the preloads...what exactly is the purpose and / or advantage over a non preload? Thanks.
