Lifting Independent Front Suspensions (IFS) - A Must Read

I've seen a lot of people asking technical questions about the lifting / larger tire fitment process. Those who haven't seen it and are really interested in the technical aspects of what happens to wheel travel and suspension geometry are highly encouraged to read the article provided by Coastal Offroad here...

Clearing 35” Tires at any Ride Height - Coastal Offroad

There is more that goes into IFS than just what is covered here- sway bars (and KDSS), the more subtle differences in the different kinds of available shocks, etc. but this is a pretty great start.

Interesting read. I like these low COG builds, it's cool to see 35's on a 3rd gen.

Also, this reminds me of how garbage IFS is for actual wheeling. I remember how flexy my ZJ Grand Cherokee was up front simply by disconecting the front swaybar,

I know 4R's are pretty capable for what they are, but IFS is definitely a limiting factor when it comes to modding and wheeling.

Good road manners though, which is why I bought mine. If my primary intended use had been moderately tough trails, I'd definitely have gotten a SFA vehicle.
