Light Bar Beam Pattern

I am starting to spec out my lighting project. I am going with a 30" or 40" curved combo pattern on the roof rack and would like to get two 12 inch bars for behind the grill.

Since there will be interference from the grill should I get spot pattern bars?
Also has anyone used a curved bar in/behind the grill? If so would you recommend it or would straight work better.

I've got a 22" Straight bar behind my grill.....
You don't have to limit yourself with the obstruction. Look thru my thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/164966-led-light-bar-install-2014-toyota-4runner.html and see if you it would be of any help with cutting out part of your grill and making a piece to trim it out.
I like the way mine turned out with no issues. Didn't like how much light was blocked before opening the grill!
If you have a waterjet company in your area, they can make one for you or you can buy materials from homerdespot and be creative! :mod:

I wouldn't want to derail you but have you considered a round light for behind the grill? What output are you ultimately going for?
I am running a curved 40" combo on the roof and two Vision X light cannons on the bumper. The 40 gives effective ambient light close to the truck while the round lights on front throw light extremely far. If I had another bar on the front it wouldn't really do much as the 40 is ridiculously bright.

That said there is no way the light cannons I have will fit behind the grill. I had to cut up my factory grill to allow them to poke through. Not the cleanest solution but I like how it came out.

Oh, and a curved bar behind the grill would be pointless. Being recessed in there like that you wouldn't get the benefit of that dispersed lighting on the ends. If you do stick with bars behind the grill definitely get spot if you intend to use them in conjunction with the roof bar.
