Light Didnt Seal Properly!

I did the blacked out headlight mod and it worked perfectly! excpet on the left headlight ( i washed my car ) and noticed there was fog (i guess?) in the inside on the lower side.. very small spot but im wondering...1- will i have to re seal them somehow? 2- if i leave it be will it be a problem? (its by the inner side so just brights would be affected) Help please!! Thanks!

Not that I've done it before, but when asked about my retros and if a small correction can be made, they told me it would have to be opened AGAIN and resealed. Unless you can find a way to completely make sure all the moisture is eliminated and SEAL it WHERE it is necessary, then a reseal isn't necessary. More times than not, one doesn't know, so you may have to start over.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

My dad says the moisture will eventually go away... but it will come back in rain or snow or when i wash it im guessing.. so if i take the light out once the moisture is gone.. What products can i use to put along the edges where the two pieces stick back together to make sure there is a SOLID seal? Other than that it looks GREAT! ill post pics soon!

it may go away & not come back, but if it does & u dont want to take it apart again, u can take the light off the vec., place it so the holes are facing up, & use a blow dryer or heater to remove the moisture inside, then reseal around the edges with clear rtv silicone sealant. one thing tho, there may be some spotting left but its not that noticable, http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/we...alant-Permatex_7160061-P_N2131_T|GRP2132_____

just pop the lights in the oven for 10 mins at 275, and crack it open a lil and then squeeze together, use spring clamps if possible, or use channel locks to squeeze and screw the screws a lil better. just make sure to put it back in for another 10 mins and then let it sit and cool.

Mine did the same, I missed one of the screws screw holes. Take apart and redo, maybe put some clear RTV

I've done this to three pairs of lights and haven't had one leak yet...

I always put the lights in the oven with the heavy housing placed on top of the lens while I do my final baking to close them. This makes the adhesive on both sides (lens and housing) bubble and expand to re-adhere to one another (while in the oven), then I pull them out place them on the floor that way and put a good bit of pressure on the back of the housing then start reattaching catches and screws.

Dunno if that's how you did it, but that's always worked well for me and I've never added any extra sealant or silicone.

edit: I would try opening them back up, clean the moisture, and let the rest dry overnight then bake and reseal them.

I think im going to take it out and reseal it with silicon.... If i just take it out and put a lining around the edges an such will it fix it? Also if this is the problem i did not put all the screws (5 ones from housing) back in.. that putty stuffy gooped up an clogged a hole or two on BOTH sets... but only one set is fogging so im not thinkin thats the problem? what do you think :ybrick::ybrick:

I'd be willing to bet alot of money thats the problem. If everything isn't there, it didn't seal up. Don't half a$$ it!!. Please don't take that wrong. But im willing to bet thats it.

It's common for the adhesive to seep through screw holes, screws will drive through it (and into the right holes) very easily when its hot.

make sure u bake first, and using clamp to hold, screw the screws in while the sealant is still hot. do it right. half ass job will lead to more problems

If one could get the moisture out using a hair dryer, is it really necessary to bake it a second time? Could you just remove the screws put it in the oven, drive the screws back in and call it a job? I don’t know perhaps there is a better reason to separating the two and I just don’t know it?
