Light under shifter is out

I just bought a 1997 4Runner that has 240K miles on it but still runs great. The light that backlights the gear shifter is out. Does anyone know how to get to the light so I can replace it and where to get a new bulb?

Yeah man it's pretty easy, all you do is pop up the plastic pieces, and unscrew a couple of things.. Just take a flat object like a knife to pop it up. I changed mine and put a blue LED in it

After the three screws are unscrewed how do you get the bulb out? does it just pull out. I got to that point and couldn't find out how to get the bulb out so I just put it all back together.

Yeah they should be the same, got it from autolumination.com It's a tri-pod LED "74."

Awesome. Wow prettty cheap at .29 cents a bulb.

Before I order how many bulbs does the shifter area have so I know how many to order?

what kind of bulbs do you need for under the shifter, and i'm also looking to change out the licence plate lights out to led's, as well as all of the interior lights. any idea what size they all are, or where there is a guide on this topic?

You were looking at the twist lock bases at .29 each. The LEDs are 3.99/each. I ordered two but didn't know how many it takes.

Amber

Has anyone installed any other color than blue under the shifter. I'm thinking of Amber, kind of like the 4th gens. Anyone have pictures?

I have 2001 limited....I took it apart and found the bulb and it seems like its not burnt. I replaced it anyways but it still doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got it to work...it seems like there's a loose connection at the base of where the bulb is pluged into.

Shifter light out

So I am going thru the same issues, specifically shifter light and the ash tray light. Also, maybe the cigarette lighter light as well (didn't know there was one there too). I know how to access them, but I've got no power at the bulbs and all fuses are good. Does anyone have an electrical diagram so I may trace the system? Or any other suggestions?

You probably did this, but make sure the lights switch is on before you check for voltage at the sockets.
