Lightforce 240's behind Satoshi grill?

I'm thinking of taking on the project of squeezing them behind my new grill, but wanted to see if anyone else has done this? They are like 9.5" in diameter and about 6" deep so it's a tight fit. I'm thinking I'll have to move the horns and some other stuff to make it work. Any other large lights people have made work?

Sounds like a terrible idea. Your grille isn't even 9.5" tall. Gonna waste a ton of light just to light up the inside of the bumper and hood.

Grille Lights

I have seen a few people do something similair to this by cutting holes in the grille. IMHO it looks junky and incomplete. You really need something to mount them to like a brush guard or an ARB style bumper.

Yeah I'm thinking the 240s are gonna be way too big to fit there and probably waste a lot of light like jb said.

The grill is over 8" so I figure I'll overlap less than .75" on top and bottom. I haven't really found another set of lights that doesn't look tiny behind the grill. I want something that doesn't look undersized like this..

I just want a set that is at least as tall as the grill. I was thinking that the LF 240's would be badass and I don't really think that a small overlap would look terrible, but maybe I'm wrong.

Back in late 03 I drilled right into the bumper of my then new rig.

Are you thinking they would stay connected the hood or the bumper?

Looks like you could fit em in there? Not sure what model I have - It's been almost 10 drama free years.
I think there are more modern technologically advanced lights currently available in the form of LED or HID. I feel mine are a bit dated?

Lights that big behind grille is bound to cause problems with air flow thru rad and air condenser. My .02

Try Cibie' Oscars or Super Oscars. Built tough, been around for a long time, and light the place up like day. Full disclosure: I have no experience with other brands of off-road lights. Cibies and Marchalls only, but I'm a very satisfied customer.

This is a Tacoma, may be a little different than a 4R

invest your money in some LED's, much newer and imho better technology. And take up significantly less space than 2 9" traditional housings :bigok:

If you don't get rigid or one of the big name brands and go with a chinese maker you can get the LED bars much cheaper.

I only paid about $200 for all 4 of my rack lights.

I thought about mounting my 30" behind the grille but it looked like building the mount would've been a PITA
