Lights Behind Mesh Grill?

Has anybody done a Satoshi Grill Mod (or something similar) and mounted Hella 500's or other round light behind the grill? I have seen this done on Tacomas and though it looked cool. I am interested in doing this to my 4Runner but would like to see some pictures first if anybody has them. Thanks!

There's a good handful of people on here who have done it that can give you more details. I think there might be a thread on it somewhere. Someone will chime in. Welcome to T4R

I am sure it can be done but it will be semi-difficult to aim the lights so they are not pointing off into the distance. You will also have to move horns a few inches.

I think the reason you don't see it more often is because that look, the "100% clean" look is not common among the lifted truck community.

We already have lift kits, bigger tires, sliders ect.. so what is the point of hiding the lights?

I did the satoshi grill mod, you can read about it in my build thread :bat:

I'm not sure what pengwin's thinking is, but here's how I look at it.

Lift kits, bigger tires, sliders, wheel spacers, racks like the Gobi Stealth or the Perkins Performance rack, and tight bumpers like the ShrockWorks without the extra hoops, all expand the profile of the truck, but don't substantially change it - they just make it beefier. Adding lights that stick out beyond the profile clutters up the look.

I've even thought that if I ever ordered one of the above-mentioned racks, that I would ask for the up-raised portion of the top bar in front to be eliminated - just keep a straight bend - and go with low-profile rectangular/oval lights across the front so as to kind of keep the profile intact.

Just took a look at that thread, and the associated grill thread. Very nice! :thumb3:

Thought about this a while ago and have seen some guys with it on here. I'm already thinking of ditching the brushguard and going satoshi, then I would most likely figure out a way to do it as it looks pretty sweet!
