Lights stay on if windows are open?

I normally drive with parking lights on, or maybe the full lights. When you turn off the 4Runner the lights go off. However if a window is down like your cracking it to allow heat to escape for the day while your parked at work, I noticed the lights actually don’t turn off.

Anyone notice this?

Yes locked and everything. We went camping and I had to park the 4R and trailer until 3 before we could check in, I left the rear windows cracked, locked it and when we walked back to the car the parking lights were on.

Another time in my driveway my neighbor knocked on my door and said my lights have been on all day into the night.

That's odd. I thought the lights automatically turn off if key is out the ignition for a bit.

Have you tried pressing lock 2 times consecutively? From factory, that turns off all lights including headlights.

Did you turn the ignition to “on” without starting it to lower the window. I noticed if you don’t start the engine the lights don’t time out unless you double lock.
