Well I bought this runner about 3 months ago now and the overall condition of the runner is great. Well at least I thought it was. I havent done much to change it yet but as you all know it will always be a work in progress.

I did change one major thing pretty quickly...when I got it, it was *cough* Brabie Pink *cough* it is now primer awaiting a new look. Im not sure what color I will do next.

Problems:
I am using about a bottle of brake fluid a week because my Load Proportioning Valve is leaking really bad. Hopefully soon Ican get a Manually operated one installed.

I decided to rip out all of the carpet sinice I got it wet 4wheeling. After getting it all out i noticed that the driver side floor had Cancer...it didnt look bad at first. Now that I have had time to get in there and check it out more it is pretty bad. About 3 spots all the way though the metel.

My rear window will rolld down if you use the key but not from the switch in the cab, the switch will roll it up though.

nice to see you finished the primer job. the hardest part is behind you. well, other than shelling out the cash for the urethane! good luck!
 
primer grey is an amazing colour man!!! still think you should have kept it fighting salmon. lol at least it doesnt look like my cousins old school ram war wagon with a 12" lift, and about 13 different colours of paint on it, lol. what gears are you running with the 35's? is there any donor trucks i can pull a set of gears out that will work for 35's and fit in my stock diffs? (87 yota runner, with ifs in front) thanks man. also, how much did you pay for your lift, and where did you get it? also, any cheap 6" or so lifts for leafs and ifs that you would reccomend? thanks man....

The floor rust may be due to a leak under the dash, a fairly common problem.

The rear window issue is also common, try raising it via the key but stop it before it shuts all the way, then see if it works up and down with the inside switch (again not closing the last 1/4").
That's what I've been doing the last year or so until I have time to fix it. :D

5.29's woould be best with 35's, but 4.88's work also.

4.88 is the lowest ratio Toyota ever used, and if you're lucky you might be able to find a truck with those (some 4 cyl/autos w/31" tire package and V6/autos w/31" tire package - axle codes G142 and G144)
 
My gears are stock for now. Maybe one day ill get some bigger ones. My lift is Skyjacker. I didnt buy it. It was already done when I purchased it. Just look up any company that makes the lifts and get the prices for there sites.

Ill try the window trick in just a few minutes.
*UPDATE* checked the window again and it wont go down from any point with the inside switch.

Just so you know you can use the rear window switch from any year 4runner. The entire wire harness from the brain which is located on the driver side quarter panel is all plug and play. THe brain is also compatible with all year 4runners. The harness though has to come from an 84 to 89 year model. I always pull the brain and the switches every time I find one at a yard. I have had a couple go bad and last thing I want is to end up with the window down and it pouring rain lol....

35s on stock gearing?!!??! wont that absolutly annihilate your power? or do you have an engine swap?? like wow my runner is ball-less with 29's, i cant even imagine 35's. how much gas milage do you lose??
 
Nope I dont have a ton of power with the stock gears.


Well i got a new problem today while i was out wheeling I finished off killing my clutch. So now im trying to decide which clutch to go with. I have been thinking about getting a Marlin Crawler for a while now anyway. I guees it had to break one day.
 
LC Engineering sells some nice clutches. I put a Pro street one in my 4Runner and am quite satisfied with it. Close to 2x OEM holding power with no additional pedal resistance.

On another subject, I saw where you were asking about bolting a Confer rack to your 4Runner. I am planning on putting a Wilderness rack on my 4Runner by bolting it through the fiberglass shell. They make one for pickup fiberglass camper shells. It mounts with two runners which are adjustable from side to side. I think I was looking at a 44x60x6 inch size.

I used a centerforce dual friction and was very pleased with the performance. The price was reasonible too. As far as the back window goes someone on here has a wiring diagram with troubleshooting that helped me fix mine.
 
Well its been a long time since i updated but here it goes...

I installed the following major things there is a lot of little things but i wont list them all.....

Marlin super heavy duty clutch...
Yukon 5.29 gears front and rear...
and 38x12.50x15 super swamper TSL's
 
Nice list of mods! It must be like driving a whole new animal. I really miss my 1st gen's they're such fun vehicles.
