Limited and SR5 exterior differences?

Exterior .....The biggest thing is the Torsen center differential that the Limited has giving it full time 4 wheel drive.Completely different suspension as the Limited has the X-REAS shocks and different springs then the SR5.

The Limiteds also have sound deadening under the hood and on the firewall and puddle lights on the mirrors that light up when you walk up with the Smart key.

Different rims, SR5 has black covers on the side mirrors, more chrome on the Limited, and the all important Limited badge.

Umm, Did I get a re-badged Limited? :D

I have the SR5 loaded w/ both packages but I have sound deadening under the hood and on the firewall. I also have the puddle lights as do I have body matching colored side mirrors, I'll take some pictures later tomorrow.

Only thing I am missing from the limited are probably; Navigation, 20 inch wheels, 15 speaker audio(?), headlight auto-on/off, dual-zone auto air, optitron cluster, the smart key system, SOS (Which I DID NOT WANT!), the X-REAS suspension system, all-time AWD and the pretty 'Limited' badges; I might of skipped some.

My dealer wanted me to pay $8K more for all that, which I passed.

My SR5 mirrors are the SAME as a the LE, the TE has black plastic mirrors only. Where does the LE have more chrome than an SR5, they are the same, unless you count the more letter in the 'limited' badge over the 'SR5' badge. I parked next to a new LE the other week at the dealership while in for a couple things, did a walk around, besides the rims and badge I did not a single difference. Well the LE does NOT have the sonar in the rear bumper, so that is a minor difference.

The puddle lights in the door/mirror seem to be a 'package' thing, seems the SR5's with no or limited options do not have them. If you get the higher packages you have them, as you and I do. My mirrors are color matched, the TE have the black mirrors, I think the last poster was confusing the SR5 & TE looks. I will have to check on the sound insulation though, I remember a post about that before. Curious where yours is? Wonder if I have the same as you.

I think all of that is well worth the 8k. Except the wheels (which I like the look of from the side, but are way too narrow), so I had to ditch them. The 15 speaker sound system is fantastic, its also nice to have ipod controls from the glove box usb connector. The dual zone climate control is much nicer to use ( a set it and forget it thing) over standard manual controls. The optitron gauges are very attractive with a clear Lexus look to them. The smart key is anice thing to have. Just leave the key in your pocket for anything, as simple as that. Xreas suspension is a great plus because it handles better on and off road with less side to side lean and nose dive under breaking the SR5s have.
I realize most of this is trivial stuff, but put it all together and it was a much more attracitve package than the SR5, even if the SR5 had all the options you could get, it still didn't have what the limited can offer.

Back on topic, the outter differences between the 2 are small. Wheels and badge are pretty much it. The inside is where you really see the differences.

I initially wanted an SR5 with all the bells and whistles, couldn't get it in a reasonable timeframe.

They had a Limited coming in by boat that had everything I wanted (4X4 was the toughest) but also had the Nav system. The cost difference was like maybe $5k, maybe. Well worth it, very glad I did it. The keyless system is just fantastic. I keep my toggle in my wallet, had to upgrade the thin clip to a slightly larger bifold, but I never take it out. Wallet and phone both stay in me cargo pockets and never have to leave them with the Nav system controlling the phone.

That said, I think it's just wheels, and chrome pieces.

I understand your view point. Again, all of those features I can live without and are more of comfort features. Only features I would have liked to have are probably the suspension and the all-time AWD. Then again, where I live I use 4WD 3/52 weeks of the year.

Per the topic, I guess the SR5 doesn't have the sound deadening and therefore I retract my previous statements, Here are the pictures BTW:

EDIT: Can someone with a Limited snap quick pictures so we can see the differences, Thanks.

Chrome is the SAME people. Just the badge, wheels, sonar. (this is apples to apples, 4wd v6's, if you toss the v4 in the mix then there are big differences)

Sorry, I thought it had more chrome. Not a big fan of the chrome BTW. I wish to God the LT looked the same as the TE, just with the LT additions.

I guess that's where the Harper mod comes in.

its also nice to have ipod controls from the glove box usb connector.

If you get the bluetooth/ipod stereo option (which was on every SR5 I've seen on the lots), it has the USB in the glove compartment. Just FYI.

Pushbutton/prox ignition and the all black interior are the only things from the Limited that I really wish my SR5 had. I'd actually much prefer the TE/4cylSR5 exterior to the fancy chrome exterior. It takes some visual heft from the vehicle, particularly in the lighter colors.

Thanks so much fxoffroad! I guess the firewalls are the same but the hood is in-deed reinforced. I wonder if you can order the sound deadening part from yota and add it onto a SR5?

Sorry about that, I could have sworn my 5th gen SR5 loaner had black mirror covers and painted handles. When I looked at pics, it didn't.

I think the sonar only comes on vehicles not equipped with the auto-dimming mirror with rear view camera or navigation with rear view camera.

don't the 4cylinder models come w/ black mirrors and door handles. and probably wouldn't have puddle lights either???
