Hey Guys,

After changing my mind about 30 times, I think I finally have my initial lift plan.

2009 Limited V8 -> Add Day-star 2.5" -> Add 275/65r18 BFG KOs

These should fit well, maybe move the fender liner and front mud flaps.

Question is, are spidertrax spacers needed? I know they look nice, but with 18" rims are they needed to the clear the UCAs?

They shouldn't be "needed" but would look considerably better with them!

So, it sounds like 285s would also work with a 2.5" daystar kit, remove the mudflaps and add spidertrax?

My previous vehicle was a Titian, and I always kicked myself for getting 33.8s, instead of 35s.... At 1700$ per tire set, I can't swap them around too often :)
 
With the Daystar lift you will be fine. Just make sure you also purchase the 1.5" lift for the rear too. It will give your rig a much more aggressive stance. The spacers are not needed, but you will have to remove the front mud flaps. Spidertraxx are a nice addition though.

Be sure to throw up some pics when your done!
 
i have the same combo except the tires are 265/65r18. look into the all pro spacers. a little cheaper and better studs. i did not have to take off my ft mud flaps with this combo. dont forget the wider you go the worse in the snow it is. also this combo will net you worse gas mileage. im lucky to get 13-14 avg.
 
+1 on the gas mileage. I went from averaging 20mpg to just 16mpg. To put that into perspective I used to get 400-420 miles to a full tank. Now I get a solid 320 miles. Who would of thought going up two tire sizes would have such an impact.

I wonder that the guys running 35's get.

Thanks for the info guys, doesn't sound like I will need to chop the body mount to get the 285s on? I don't mind loosing the mud flaps, or moving fender liners but I don't want to get out the grinder like I did on the Xterra or Titan.

Will def. get pic up once I'm done. Thanks!!

That is my exact setup and I love it. Get the spacers.

Did you take the odometer error caused by the larger tires into account when calculating your mpg?

Good point. No. No I did not. I realize that I am actually driving more miles than my odometer reads... but the question is, how much? There's no way I could actually be driving 400 miles and my odometer shows 320, is there?

Hey Guys,

One more thing......

After some more research I'm going to an aftermarket 17". Selling factory rims should easily pay for aftermarket.

This will: Eliminate need for spidertrax & Tires are cheaper

Re-looking at Goodyear kevlar MT/R 275 or 285, since they are much cheaper on a 17"

Could someone confirm the correct offset, I think I need a "0", but if someone could confirm before I buy that would help a lot.

yup, very easy install. You will be approx +7% off from factory speed readings. It'll really help me when i upgrade tire size too. I highly recommend it, best $116 i've spent.
 
Careful. I just went through this two weeks ago. If you mount 285/70/17's on your rig with spidertrax you are going to rub like no one's business. I know that most guys put them on to avoid rubbing, but in this scenario it is a negative to add wheel spacers. I thought that more height would eliminate the rubbing, so I went and installed a 1.5" body lift last weekend. Six full inches of lift from stock... it still rubbed. Long story short, I took the front wheel spacers off today.

Moving the tires out creates a larger radius when you turn your wheels left to right. For me this meant rubbing on the front corner of the wheel well (the painted part) as well as along the most interior part of the wheel liner. I am going to try again after I get a new front bumper.

By the way, I rode around sans spacers all day and have absolutely no rubbing at all. It is not necessary for you to do the body lift; however, I am glad I did because I like the extra height.

Ok, so tell me what to buy :)

Figure Daystar & mudflaps removed, ICON or Toytec ultimate later

1. 18" limited & 275/65r18 BFG KO or MTR Kevlar
2. 18" limited & 285/65r18 BFG KO
3. Either above of these on 17" wider rims, maybe 15 offset, move it out like .75 inches?
4. 18" limted & 275/70r18, saw one guy running this with only daystar

I'm not super concerned about tread-wear since I have a commuter car, sidewall protection is a must

um where the hell you get 6" of lift?

285s, hell my 265/70s need some minor trimming and moving liners. Cost of looking good < looking like ass.
