"Limited" gages mystery

Could someone who has "Limited" trim check his truck for the following?
Start the engine and switch the lights on. You gages should light up bright and as soon as you hit the light switch they should dim. Then turn off the engine and leave the lights on. What happened to your gages lighting? Is it still on?
My truck was performing in one way and recently it starts performing in a different way. Dealer, based on 2006 model, saying that it should work as it working now. But I remember that I had the gages lighted up when my light were on and ignition was off. The question is did I had a glitch before or now.

I have a 2005 Limited as well. When I turn my truck off, the guage lights turn off regardless if the lights are on or off. The only thing lit is the small light bulb indicator.

Looks like I had a glitch before and now everything become normal.
My gages lights were on when I was turning the engine off while light were switched on. Now gages lights are turning off as you described.
I liked the idea of how they worked before. Should I be happy that everything becomes normal?

That is really weird. The guages on my parents 2006 act the same way as mine.
